I lost my hard drive last week, and with it everything, i had downloaded from fruit-emu and every other site ive been too.
so i thought i'd cheat and buy a disk from ebay, but which one to buy and which one not to buy was my biggest question. the cheaper one? or the more expensive one, or the really expensive one? well i went for this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...1QQcmdZViewItem
and well i couldnt believe how many fruit machines were on the disk? i know it says over 2700 real fruit machines ? but i thought that would be far from the truth? there was just over 4gb of fruit machines, are there that many available? from any one site?

Ooooh.... nasty subject, specially since people on here are offering the service FREE... you just need to pay postage and provide the DVD's

Be careful as they mae be classic and DX layouts.

Or... someone may have downloaded EVERY machine and put it on a disk, so for example in our download section there is more than one Club Casino Crazy layout, so unless it states 2,700 DIFFERENT machines, I'd be cautious

just my opinion but you really shouldn't buy those disks off ebay. who do you think your money goes to when you buy one? (usually some slacker scrounger work shy doely living with their parents getting paid for someone elses hard work). It certainly doesn't go to the good people here at fruit-emu for the upkeep of the site or to designers and all the others involved who spend a considerable amount of their time so that you can play these fruit machines on your pc.

ive tried to count them and there does seem to be over 2700 machines, as well as loads of cheat books, tips and walkthroughs, club machine guides, even phone unlocking software, dvd player unlock codes, the list seems to go on and on? but like you said some of the machines are duplicated? so i asked the guy about this, and he pointed out that they are different layouts, in regards to a £100 machine the same machine with the £150 jackpot and the £200 version, some of them are the £5 and the £8 jackpots so you have the same machine but 3 or 4 times, in different jackpots. well i paid £6.49 inlusive of P+P? the time it would of taken me to download all of that would of been an eternity. not only that now i have a hard copy in case my pc screws again. thanks

Hmmm...Bites lip!!!

Duplu, what's the chances of you releasing a CD on this site? I know this has been talked about before but some people are making easy money. Why not have a word with the main designers and see what comes of it. Maybe some of the money could go towards the upkeep of the sites and the rest split amongst the creators of the classics/DX's/Emu's? Mass production like the T-shirts...lol. I'm sure even the e-bay bidders wouldn't begrudge buying the CD from this site rather than giving their money to some lazy little shit who can't be bothered to work and likes making money from other people's hard work and effort.

I'd rather see you guys get the money.

P.S: Wittywelshman...If you could have been bothered to back up your machines before your computer went tits up...It would have taken you approximately 3 minutes to burn them to CD.

Talk about Irony.

You sit there and slag off someone for stealing something from you and you have paid someone money for something they stole from the FME community.

Sorry about that Witty_welshman. Thieving buggers are all over the place, but my point about everyone getting together to produce their own CD/DVD and putting the money back in to the sites remains valid. If their is a free cd/dvd in place already then I don't think it should be free. Just my opinion. Of course, you could always make a small donation as well :)

Well - The problem with buying discs off ebay is multiple. Firstly as they are making money out of the copyright (remember it's originally owned by the manufacturers), it makes it more likely they will get pissed off and pull the plug on the whole thing. However worse than that the people who create the discs are the same "types" of people who are selling bootleg DVDs at car boot sales.. (It really does amount to the same thing), so probably thieving Gypsies who had your computer.. Witty Welshman, it was probably the people who sold you that disc who stole your computer.. That's how they fund it.. And probably terrorist attacks too... I am sure I read the Al Queda are really in to selling copied fruit machine discs to fund their operations.

The fact that it's somebody's hard work to emulate these machines is not the point as they can be gotten from lots of download sites (like here), however the point somebody else is making money off it's immoral. So to summarize... I think these people are b*stards.. However if anybody would like to buy a disc off me with 2701 fruit machines on click http:/james/diskripoffs/2701/scams

£10 each (FREE POST AND PACKING!!!).

Did you write that F.A.C.T advert? :D

I can just see Osama down the local boot sale selling disks out of the back of his cortina.

They are claiming if you read it REALLY carefully that it's the interface they have copyrighted (they believe by writing copyright on it that makes it so). This email is copyright of me, and the word "THE" as used in it also. My lawyers are watching so do not use the word "THE" without strict written consent.

you talk about rip offs? and then talk about selling your disk for £10 each? im glad i bought mine of ebay, only cost me £6.49. and as he said in his auction he was not selling the item as such just the time and effort, it took him to download it and set it all up. and he was at the end of yahoo messager talking me through everything all the way, what to do when to do it etc etc etc, i dont think i would of got as much knowledge had i not been speaking to him. BUT yes i know that all you folks at fruit emu are amazing and ever so helpful and i woiuld be even more lost without you to help me and design these games in the first place, the moment i get some money in my paypal account i will be making a donation. to all at fruit emu THANK YOU and to the thieving little f***s who stole my pc and shit f*** YOU ALL. and to all at fruit emu?? sorry for the language

but look at it this way £6.49 for his 'time and effort'. Ok fine if he only sells one disk, say about £4 is for his time. But he will be selling multiple copies, possibly running into the hundreds eventually. Is £400 justified as his 'time and effort' for the work?

Why are we getting at each other guy's?....

Basically right or wrong we can't stop it....then (debate) why should we, surely if anybody was to really have a grudge it should be Barcrest etc, after all we are just 'the middle men' who are using their work after all to recreate all their appriciated machines, we DX etc (exclude the Emulator creators at this point) and spend hours on most layouts...but all the guy's that ARE entitled to have a shout don't, they actually tolerate us after all.

Personally I hate someone making cash from this scheme...especially as theres several download sites that are usually funded from host's own pockets...The more WE shout the more it's all highlighted....

Is it time for US to just accept (not approve) all the 'goings on' on ebay and your local free Ad papers with these CD's....I mean theres far too many of them on there anyway for someone to earn a living anyway......
