Hi all Am new to this site..Have done all the downloads..when I run MFME..it doesnt recognise any of the layouts /roms I have downloaded! When I looked at the actual files..windows doesn't seem to know what type of file they are..am I missing a crucial bit of software? or am i being really dumb? (probably the latter)
stuck!

Hey Welcome to Fruit-Emu.
have you unzipped all of the files? You should have a layout and a ROM. Unzip them to the same folder.
Have you downloaded FMEIW also?
I.E AndycappDX and Andycapprom, into the same folder. You need to do this for some of the layouts.
Also are you loading MFME files into the right emulator? Some layout require the BFMulator or JPeMu to run.
On the left hand side there is a link to the tutorials and a link to the knowledge base. I'd recommend having a look at them as these may help you out further.
Hope this helps.!

You will need to download Winzip (or an equivalent thing like WinRAR) to unzip the files, unless you have Windows XP which should let you open Zip files as standard.
I'm guessing the website for WinZip will be www.winzip.com
