Who's to say it isn't the landlord or the bar staff "scamming" the machine behind closed doors?

Another reason why I don't touch the buggers nowadays.

Why else would they scowl over the counter at punters playing it? Why not take it up with the manufacturers?

I think it should be ILLEGAL for all bar staff and owners to play the machines in their pub, the same way that workers who work for companies that run competitions can't enter them.

End of story.

Fair enough..and I'm not blaming anyone personally, but the only reason I can think of is that some bar staff want to win all the cash after hours. It's bleedin' obvious to a blind man some of the scams that bar staff / owners of certain pubs are trying to pull. Banning punters, turning the machine off...etc. After all they know how much has been put in and when it "might" pay. After hours is your own social time isn't it? :)

Hang on... I thought 50/50 share between operator and supplier was illegal?

I thought it HAD to be rental, or outright purchase?

why do you think its illegal to do 50/50 shares ben?

i would be interested to hear your views about this.

also baz i do not charge rental if a machine does not take money when its on a 50/50 shares. if it doesn't take money then the the machine gets removed and replaced with another. its the same when i used to site video and pinball machines.

what you are saying is fine mark and is the proper way to go about using the 50/50 shares method but the landlord from the pub was claiming he only gets charged rental when the machine doesn't make money and if it does make money he goes 50/50 share and no rental.

that is the thing that is bollocks.

It is actually illegal or so i've heard for staff to play machines outside licensed opening hours but obviously it's hard to prove. There's a place i go for a drink with 3 club machines in and i'm getting sick to death of hearing about staff dropping them before opening or after hours. I'm not the only one who's well fuming over it either. The club is thinking of introducing new rules internally to knock in on the head and i think other places should do the same.

I was playing yabadaba darts in my local bowling centre bar today and the manager came over and told me that i was scamming the machine. He said he had been watching me on cctv. Just because I was not taking the jackpot and going for the top feature he thought I was scamming it. He turned the machine off with my £55 in the bank and £4 odd in credits, and barred me.
I would not leave so he said he would call the police. I left as did not want the agro, is this legal?

There's too much of that going on these days. It does ya head in big style. They may have been having problems with people trying to fiddle the machines in the past cos the only place where i've ever seen cameras pointing at machines are in arcades. Never anywhere else. Bet he switched the thing on as soon as you left and emptied it. But what can ya do? I'd report the place to the gaming board of GB.

There should be more laws to stop people being treated like crims who've done nowt wrong.
