Thanks mate. I do understand that. It seems pretty simple where you have cut the key into 2 lamps. I never thought about having more than 1 bitmap assigned to an individual lamp number.
Cheers mate. That info will help loads.

i have sorted the lamps now (i think) and the dx is almost done. the only problem is when i save the layout and game through the design menu and then reload it into the emulator it keeps saying layout not found, so i have to then load it up from the design menu again instead of the normal way. can anybody help me out with this problem please.
thanks.
thanks.

Try opening the .gam file with notepad and look where it says layout to see if the right .dat file is listed.
Also always save the layout within the emulator as oposed to the save function when it asks you when you exit.

Whats exactly the problem with psp? Expired? I can get a serial for it.
Hi
Anyone else in the same boat should download DATECRACKER 2000 This will turn off the trial period for P*P (it does for me, it leaves it at 13 days pemanantly) and many other time limited programs
Get it from http://www.wonderwor...nbia/dc2000.htm

Believe it or not most of my masking is done in MSPaint lol, very easy to add a blob on each corner to cover the desired area.
But if the lamp needs very accurate and precise masking I use photoshop, it's easiest to do it whist lamping, if you select the area you want to lamp with the lasso tool, lamp it, then do inverse select it selects everything else which you can then fill with a colour block.
Check out the 3 pics below, the first shows a nudge lamp that when lit will overlap the surrounding lamps, you only need to mask the areas that will effect the other lamp, if two lamps overlap in an area where both parts of the two lamps are unlit it will make no difference.
The second picture shows where I have just painted over the required areas in MSPaint and the third shows where I have masked everything on the lamp using the select inverse mode in photoshop during lamping.
One important thing is that all four corners of the lamp need to be masked or it won't work, the emulator looks at the four corner pixels and if they are the same coulour then it will make everything on the lamp which is that colour transparent. As you can see on the MSpaint version I blobbed the colour into all four corners or else it wouldn't work.
This only needs to be done on the lit lamp and not the unlit one, check the box in the lamp properties in the emulator to make the lit lamp transparent and then go into design/lamps/mask off lamps, this will then tranfer the masking properties onto the unlit lamp also.
Geeezz, perhaps I should write a book on this.

Incorrect. MFME uses the top left and bottom left pixels only, the rest matter not. You do not have to mask the right side pixels.
(In fact by design you only need to change one of the left side pixels but there is a bug in the emulator that means it is safer to change both left corners)

How do you know so much about these emulators justinfo did you make it.

And there is nothing wrong with the way that pook doies his layouts and when they do come out they are top notch so dont tell him how to do it.
Just one of his work in progress layouts beats my casino 5 liner wdx Look.

What are you on about? Did you actually bother to read my post and understand it's meaning, or did you just want to jump in head first without thinking?
Pook says that you have to change all four corners, that is not correct, only the left side needs doing. I felt the need to post this because Pook was indicating in his post that you MUST do all four corners.
I didn't write the emulators no but as a designer myself (you just don't know who I am as I choose to post here under a different name which is my right) I am well aware of how the tools work thank you. Personally fruitymad, I don't care if someone has done 1 DX or 500 DX's, if they post an obvious error that I know is wrong I am going to reply and correct them, because that is how we all learn and get better at what we do. Now I have posted this I have probably saved Pook a lot of work in future as he will no longer feel the need to do the right side (possibly). This had nothing to do with the quality of Pooks layouts which are of a very high standard, perhaps you will think in future before sounding off on something you obviously know nothing about.

i have two theories about just infos true identity. 1st of all data from the next generation (his avatar) because he thinks he knows it all. and second some arch bishop or other because he certainly can preach.
