Hi all, after browsing on these pages for a while, i`ve convinced myself to buy a fruit machine. Its a crazy fruits machine by bell fruit, thats set on 5p play / £5 Jackpot. Unfortunately, i haven`t got the manual for it, and i`m a total novice. Is there a way to change the price per spin and the Jackpot amount? Some decals were inside the machine for a £15 jackpot, I`d like to be able to set it to that amount. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

there are various was for various machines, but mostly the price of play and jackpot`s are set by internal `keys` that sit on the main board, though i know barcrest adopt seperate keys for each, its possible you could change the jackpot and price of play via the dip switch settings??

OK I own one of these and it's on 15 quid.

Now, I'm not sure if the 5 quid roms are switchable to 15 quid.. what color is the glass on the machine? green?

I know that BFM did a red version of crazy fruits and a green one, and I also know that the 15 quid roms are switchable to 8 quid and 10 quid but not to 5 quid.. infact come to think of it I cant switch my machine to 5 quid because only the top 3 or 4 prize ammounts are changable and the ones below are too high for the 5 quid roms to even be compatible.

If it's green I think it's safe to say you are stuck on 5 quid.

Also, the stakes on a Scorpion 4 machine (like yours) are controlled by a percentage key (if memory serves) and the one you have wont be switchable to 15 quid.

The reason is pretty simple, 5 quid machines do not require the same license as a higher stake prize machine and thus you have 2 options.

1: get a new set of roms blown for higher stakes or

2: hope you can change the prize and stake.

I have attatched the manual for this machine, I also have the cabinet manual but I dont think that will help much.

Infact I am mistaken, my machine is set on 10 quid, not 15.

Also, it's back switchable to 8 quid (thats how it was originally I would imagine) but not 5 quid.

And, I was right, I think you are totally screwed because in this pic I have attatched you can see that the bottom cash awards are alot higher than on the 5 quid one (youll note the cherries are worth a quid, on yours they should be worth like 40p or something) and those decals are part of the artwork...


What I mean by that is that theyre not removable.. however if you look up youll see the 4 5 6 and jackpot decals are clearly removable

So, I think youre screwed.. sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings

Thanks for the replies people. My machine has the green glass, as for the decals, the win strip on mine starts from 20p, 30p, 40p, 60p, 80p, £1, £2, £3, Jackpot. The whole strip though is removable, and isn`t part of the case artwork (although i haven`t another for it) I do have the £15 Jackpot Decal, And the decal for the shot matrix, which is between £1 - £15. Many thanks for the manual mythicos.

Id phone bellfruit before changing any dips, but yeah that does look like the percentage key there

Buy a pop key or ask someone local if that you can try it Once fitted will over ride dils

if you have the greem crazy fruits thats a rebuild what your s/ware no ie 95418088 on your proms or when you power up your machine

yeah green version is the later qps rebuild.

going by the picture looks like you dont have a stakes and prizes key fitted under where the % key is so if the machine powers up with all doors closed and plays on the £5.00 jackpot then you must have just the £5.00 software.

So i need to get a stakes and prizes key then? How much am i looking at and where`s a good place to buy one? And am i looking in the right place for my software no Impact? i`ve attached a picture.

Well, i bought a stakes and prizes key, Its the variable type, And when i try to change the settings nothing happens. It stays on 5p play £5 Jackpot. Damn! So uit looks like i`m stuck with a £5 jackpot. Unless anyone knows otherwise.

would be it just to be on the safe side turn your machine off and type with the software no which is on the proms as i.e 9500088.lo and 9500089.hi not the sound prom which should be labeled as well but as sound1 sound 2

why i ask is that if your machine is pop locked via the software saves a couple of quid getting pop keys

yeah you wont be able to change the stake or prize as you have just got standard £5.00 roms.

Oh well, i suppose i`ll have to get some different roms. I`ve been speaking to someone at CMJS leisure, there trying to get some for me. They`ve quoted around £45, does this sound reasonable to you?

I wouldn't use them again.

I ordered 3 components, 2 of which were correct. They charge *way* over the odds for most stuff (are they still charging £250 for late 90's MPU5 machines?), and £45 for ROMs does sound a little steep.

The roms are available around the internet there may, however, be some problems.

Firstly you will need the correct hardware to accompany the roms, so for instance if the hoppers in your machine arent the same as the 15 quid machine you may well find that the programs will refuse to run.

See it's as I suspected, the 5 quid roms arent changable to 8 10 or 15 because the regulations on those machines are very different to 5 quid machines.

So basically the roms are around (if you need them holler) but youll need to find someone to burn them for you, and youll need a percentage key too.

45 quid is waaaay over the top, personally I would phone bellfruit as I suggested before and talk to them.

You may find however that they might not help you seeing as you have a 5 quid machine there and switching it to anything higher would be illegal.

Not sure if you know, but a 5 quid machine requires no license (or its a different one) and anyone of any age can play them.

Machines on higher stake/ prizes than that require a license and under 18s are not supposed to play them.

Im sure Baz will have the answer to that for you tbh

If you're willing to pay a 'fair price' IE not 45 quid thats disgusting then stop over at www.fruitemu.co.uk and offer someone over there a reasonable ammount (Id say 25-30 quid) and they might help you out

by the way your machine may play very very differently to the real bfm one.

I heard from someone that even though the nudge banking remains on the 5 quid one that they *never ever* hold over to the next spin.
