Hi Guys,
My dilema of bringing over fruit machines from the UK to Canada continues ....
I finally found a transport company that is willing to do the transaction.... works out about 250 pound per machine YIKES
They need to pick the machines up from one location - so I have spoken to several companies and have found one that seems helpful on all avenues that I have queried them on...(Such as warranty, packing/protection, etc)
So... getting onto my question.... I was hoping to bring over some specific machines with a UK theme - such as Monty Python, etc. Unfortunately they dont have stock of this or the other ones I would like.
They have these ones on offer:-
Thunderbirds £249 (JPM 2001)
Cash on the Lash £249 (Mazooma 2003)
Battle Axe £249 (Barcrest 2001)
Dosh'n'Pecks £249 (Barcrest 2003)
Gimme Gimme £249 (Barcrest 2003)
Simpsons £TBC (Maygay 1996-1999)
Rise to the Top £249 (Mazooma 2003)
Some Like it Hot £249 (Mazooma 2004)
Blackjack Club £249 (Global 2003)
Monopoly WOTW £595 (Mazooma 2004)
Grand Blaster Cash £249 (Mazooma 2003)
Club Count Yer Cash £249 (Mazooma 2002)
Snakes & Ladders £249 (Bell Fruit 2003)
Club Pacman £249 (Mazooma 2000)
I am not so much concerned about the cost (ebay cheaper, but I need to get them all from one location)... but was more concerned about the "playability" and "fun" factor of these. I cant find details of some of them - and of course some are too new to be emulated.
Some thoughts from the peanut gallery would be appreciated on which ones to "buy" and which ones to "stay away from" would be much welcomed
Cheers
Martin

Did you get the quote from SE Leisure by any chance!
I buy all my new machines from there.
I would go with the newer £249 machines like Grand Blaster Cash, Some like it Hot. But if you really want a treat go the the August 2004 Monopoly WOTW.
I would also go for ones with themes you like and what age you want them to be.

CoasterDesignPro.... YES, it was S E ... they were extremely helpful. Have spoke to 3 other companies prior to them - and did not recieve a great sense of customer service.
To be Fair S E did say they can get Full Monty - or others - but it works out more expensive when they have to shop for them (fair enough). Problem is - my cost per machine works out over 500 pound by the time I get them here - and I cant justify that sort of expense.
I did a search on WOTW monopoly and it didnt receive the bestreviews. In fact some people slated it as the worst machine. I was quite dissapointed as I would have considered this (even at the more expensive price).
CoasterDesignPro - any thoughts on the newer machines playability? I like the idea of newer machines - myself being so far away I may have less maintenance problems. However, it seems pretty universal that evryone thinks the newer machines suck for features compared to "older" machines.
What would be considered "older"? Anything prior to 2000?
King Kallum - thanks for the input. Is this because of the playability of these fruit machines? Any of the listed machines have some comedy to them (ala Monty Python) , or good sound, speech, etc?
What about ones that Suck? What should I absolutely stay away from - Is Mazooma a good manufacturer?

out of the ones you have listed i would go for barcrests from a technical point of view as they are the most reliable.
gimme gimme gimme is a good machine.
battleaxe and dosh and pecks are the same machine just different graphics and sound.(and i think they are boring)
thunderbirds - crap
simpsons - all good machines but the price is rising on these and the technology wont be around for too much longer.
some like it hot - crap
blackjack club - crap technology ...f*** it crap machine
monopoly wotw - good machine
grand blaster cash - good machine
club count yer cash - crap
club pacman - good machine poor technology
snakes and ladders - good machine
hope this helps

Is that £595 for WOTW including a note acceptor? I would try to push that price down a bit. It is not worth that much in my opinion. £400 without a note acceptor is my opinion. But then machines with special themes like Monopoly, Im a celebrity, saturday night takeaway, coronation st etc will be more expensive anyway.

Bazpeeb.... like the info! Not much ambiguity in thos comments..LOL.
Actually, that is very good feedback - and is really helpful. Dont suppose you service machines in Canada do you?
CoasterDesignerPro - I think it was Andrew... might be mistaken. SE was very helpful - and I will do a deal with them if we can come to terms. Their machines seemed reasonably priced compared to the other commerical vendors I spoke to (WOTW Monopoly aside).
PS... what does WOTW stand for...LOL.. War of the worlds... $&%#ing over Tammy Wynette.... Whores on the Walkway???

Yes, i know Andy; he is the owner, i buy all my machines directly though him, he does me good deals on machines.
WOTW stands for Wonders of the World. Ie Pyramid, Taj Mahal etc.
Are you buying loads as one bulk buy?

Hi CoasterDesigner Pro- I will probably be buying 4 to bring over. They will be for my own use in my basement/recreation room. I am going to try and replicate some of the British pub feel.
If the shipment goes well I may bring more over to resell. Problem is the cost of shipping. It is costing 1073 pounds for 4. Of course this gradually gets a little cheaper the more that is brought over - but still not cheap by the time you add taxes and import duties for a commercial shipment. I will have to see.
I do have a lot of people who say they would purchase them... and the japanese Pachislo's sell real well - and I dont think they are anywhere near as good as the British Fruity.
Servicing may be an issue - I have never seen the inside of one of these before. I presume the MPU and Power supply are probalby the most common fault
I dont know if it is an option to have the wooden cabinet made over here - and only have the "guts" of the machine sent over. Much of the shipment cost is for the weight and size of the cabinet/furniture.

i can service machines anywhere in the world via this forum of course!!!!
you really want reliable machines and i would always advise to buy any machines in barcrest cabinets(barcrest, vivid or red gaming).

Rise to the top by Mazooma is a good game. Quite rare when released. Obsolete now pretty much. I enjoyed playing it though for the brief time it was in a local arcade.

coaster
kerching - 800 +
yabba dabba darts - this one would still be near the 1000 mark as its still a hugely popular machine in pubs.
bullseye - dpends as they made 2 versions scorpion 4 and a scorpion 5 version,the scorpion 4 version between 800 and 1000,scorpion 5 version between 1000 and 1300.
