Thanks to pete_w for providing the Open the Box layout without which, working out the lamps would have been a lot harder, and also for adding the dot matrix.

Thanks also to whoever provided the roms and to Wizard for the continued development of MFME.
Thanks to Compostcorner for his offer of assistance and providing his Crimewatch layout, this helped me work out the number reel.
The ram file included is well played, £1400 in so it has settled down into normal play. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did making it.

Great machine finally gets a release.

I must admit, that personally, I never really played this much in the wild. See, I was brought up on the early revision 'Grand Prix' and 'Open The Box' and had already convinced myself that I had a slight upper hand at playing these as regards to the 'quick nudges' feature.

I did play Grand National but not by any means the amount of times I played the earlier mentioned machines. I think I was probably caught out by early versions that may have been emptied so playing a game that I pretty much always lost on was no fun at all.

Here on the emulator is a different matter. A later rom possibly, but a game that is quite happy allowing full investigation of all features ect... Sure, a clone of Crimewatch but the funky tunes and the kick ass streak make this extremely playable and with enough subtle differences to pretty much allow this game to exist on it's own merits rather than that of it's clones or clone.

Saying that, was Grand National first and Crimewatch second? Who knows and who cares. Top notch gaming once again cast out into the harsh world is lapped up by the serious fruity player. Well done and cheers :)

I find that a good analogy when I tell people I'm into fruit machine emulation. I always get the 'WHY?' and I sense they think I'm a little sad but when I mention how fruit machines and playing them symbolise certain times of my life, and bring back memories from those times, just like old tunes, they tend to be quite sympathetic and in most cases, they understand the similarities.

I usually keep the convo short and sweet, not pushing my argument though in case it works the other way and they think I'm some sort of fruit machine addict. Which once, I was.

Still, can't beat playing the £4 10p play Barcrests whilst listening to the tunes of 1988/89.
