Couldn't resist snapping this up for the price it was going for but gonna have to sell my That's Magic to make room for it. These don't come along for sale everyday. Especially with decals.

I know the first thing i'm gonna do is change the jp from £100 because i've played it in a club once on £100 jacky and it was AWFUL!! Hardly offered anything more than a few quid. Should be getting it delivered some time next week.

Dont like 4 reel machines, takes too long to get a win out of them. Suppose its better in the long run as there is more play, tho ive spent many a time sitting next to a full club machine whilst my mate forces it for a jackpot.

Got no option though unfortch i need to sell me That's Magic to make room and it is the Red Gaming one i've got. It's either that or get rid of me Club Casino Crazy instead and there's no way i'm doing that lol if i had the room i'd keep them both. I've messaged the guy to see if he wants to do a swap or part ex but not heard anything back yet cos he's away for a few days. Gonna ring him when he gets back and see what we can sort out.

Right i'm gonna pick your brains you lot. Through one thing and another i've only actually just got the machine delivered today. They took my That's Magic and gave me a bit for it. Anyways great cabinet condition. A few scuffs here and there but can't complain for the price. Takes all coins including £2. It's pretty much the same internal layout as my TM was as it's the same tech. Most of you will already know that's the reason why a Club OAD cannot yet be made/emulated.

Anyways i was playing it in free play mode for a while, same deal of leaving the bottom cash door open like i've always done with the other one. Then i decided to play it in normal mode. Everything was going fine until all of a sudden i got an error message and HEY CHECK IT OUT blaring out the speakers!! The error message i got said something along the lines of 'reel c tab connect failed' and the 3rd reel was flashing. I just thought oh the reels just stuck so i reset it by opening up the bottom door, played it in free play then closed the door and started playing in normal mode again.

The same error message came back up about 10 mins later. Now, i do have an MPU 5 service manual as it happens that i got with my refill key. I have been through it, but it seems to list the possible problems you could get but without listing the solutions!! Any help from anyone would be appreciated as long as it's not too technical for me to follow. You'll really have to dumb it down i'm afraid lol

The guy who delivered said he'd come out to any problems i might have but it's a long way for him to come if it's something minor that i can fix myself.

hello mate

it very much sounds like the opto on reel 3 is dirty or faulty.
but
before you do the following just double check that no bulbs or wires are hitting the reel drum and thats whats causing the error.

if the reel is moving freely which you can check with the machine switched off by just gently spinning the reel to hear if anything is catching the reel anywhere, then try the following.

remove the reel and look at the little black u shaped opto that the black paddle on the actual reel drum passes through.get a cotton bud, dampen it with saliva and clean the inside of the opto(you do not need to remove the opto from the reel).

see if that makes any difference,if it does then you are now sorted,if you still get the error then the opto may be faulty and you'll need a new one.

worst case scenario is that you have a warped reel drum and every now and then the paddle isn't fully passing through the opto but this doesn't happen very much.

let me know how you get on.

baz
