I am buying my own machine and was all set to buy an Impulse game called "Royal Roulette".
But I have just found a "Vamp It Up" and looking at the pics, it seems to give me EVERYTHING I want.
However, my only reservation is the fact that its 'themed' (i.e Transexual Vampire) and my experiences with these types of machines is that they can be quite tacky (in terms of sound effects).
I know that its sounds shouldn't be high on my criteria, but its just the way I am.. If it annoys me, then I won't like it.
Is anyone familiar with this machine? If so, do you know what its sounds are like?
I look forwards to your replies
Cheers

Its a clone of Hellraiser plays ok for a Barcrest MPU5 (I play it on £8 jackpot) and average about £15 off it it'll dead play then either give a smallish streak or a jackpot with afterplay.

vamp it up is a popular machine and has loads of features.
sounds are good and although you say you dont want a themed machine this is still a good machine.
you have the main feature board which also turn red to give super features also there are streak pots as well.
its trail based but its a long trail with better features the further up you get.
the machine you said you were going to get royal roulette i personally would stay away from as the technology for this machine has now ceased to be made but vamp it up is mpu 5 tech which is the best at the moment.
you could also look for 3 other machines which play the same as vamp it up called all fired up, hellraiser or hot stuff.
heres a link for all fired up
http://www.barcrest....ed_up/index.htm
and a link for hellraiser
http://www.barcrest....aiser/index.htm
and a link for hot stuff
http://www.barcrest....Stuff/index.htm
i personnally like this barcrest machine

I always hated Royal Roulette but it was a £25/25p/70% example in a VERY quiet pub - pretty sure I was the only player, hence the machine was always in a dire mood.
Vamp it Up is a FANTASTIC machine IMHO, especially for home use - I think themed machines make among the best machines anyway.
The sound effects aren't that tacky. Nothing like you'd get from Global, no innuendo ridden sound track, in fact no speech at all that I remember, unless you count the odd scream as speech.
As for Baz recommending Gimme Gimme Gimme, surprisingly enough thats one of the machines I despise and wouldn't touch at all. Not that I play machines anymore but when I did I stopped going to one pub when they had a Gimme Gimme Gimme for a whole 12 months.

Vamp It Up is cool. Funnily enough that was one i was going for too but by the time one came up for sale i'd alredy used the room for another machine. Play it down my local arcade all the time and it seems very popular. Good for a few quid if you have certain knowledge some people will know what i mean.
Might still end up getting it in the end if i can make room. One going on e bay at mo for £100 but pick up only.

Didn't know if you'd managed to find one for sale yet so thought you might like a look. It's not listed under Vamp It Up. Did a search under Barcrest at work today and came across it.

Glad I asked about Royal Roulette now.. I think I might give it a miss and wait for a Vamp It Up/Hellraise/Hot Stuff to come up.
The Vamp It Up on Ebay is the one I am thinking off.. Its 200miles away, but I get my fuel paid for and have a trailer, so its not too bad.. Going to be a long drive, but its better than travelling 100miles to get something which is no good.
Thanks for the tip.. I just hope that the 'Vamp It Up' doesn't go for silly money
Cheers

I looked at Gimme Gimme Gimme and its not for me.. I don't know why, but I HATE multiple stake/winline based games.. I can't explain it, I just can't stand playing them.
I think that Vamp It Up is exactly what I am looking for.. Looking at the pictures, its exactly the type of game that I like playing in the Pub.
So, I think I will put my project on hold for a little while until I can track down a good machine.
Thanks everyone

Will do.. I am going to Leave Royal Roulette and will buy VIU.. I don't know how much it will sell for, but I am getting bored of this, so will put a sizable bid in to ensure that I get it.
Knowing my luck, someone here will be interested (or hte seller will be here) and will bump the price up just to spite me
Fingers crossed that I will get it.. If not, I will be gutted lossing BOTH of the machines that I was interested in.

Or you could try the All Fired Up, or even for an extra £50- £100 you could go a further 3-5 months in 2004 and try a Supernova or Shark Ravin Mad.
links
Super Nova - AUG 04 http://www.barcrest....rnova/index.htm
Shark Raving Mad - OCT 04
http://www.barcrest....g_mad/index.htm
But then Vamp it Up is still a good choice.

hate vamp it up.... played it once in a pub and it took £16 for a feature... never touch it after that.
never found a decent game with those long trails that turn from blue to red

I car3e to debate...Vamp It Up, Hellraiser Shark Raving Mad...Fantastic games. On £5 they normally give a feature in £2/£3...Then the red board comes and drops you at least one streak add. Then you take the streak if it's hot or whatever and it drops in the jackpot normally, and if it's top streak it'll drop more. Good gameplay, good winnings.
This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.

Ouch it must've been in a really bad mood for that to happen. Sounds like someone had really cleaned it out. Unless it was on a stupidly low pay out. It's not normally that bad.

Good gameplay my arse...
£5 10p, first credit, offers me jackpot from supershots, but i knock it back to try ang get the top streak, cos i have two. It doesn't come, i lose. OK i think, its happy, top streak is coming soon. £10 later it didnt offer anything over £3 Piece of shit. And a board every £2 or £3? What are you playing! Never. Can, and does, take £6-£10 for a shit board.

Vamp is a good machine tho on a P1 program it had a flaw on the Super Pick a reel thing with the jackpot. Old news now.
Easy to play, Vamp it up is the best streak you can take, Superhold gives jackpot a few times, as so does Super nearest win.
Find the machine tends to hold back on a superboard, then just throws in the towel..
Can be boring at times to play, especially when they were about everywhere and make £50-£80 per machine on the cheat.
We had one that leisure link missed, and milked it everynight..tho the club had a revamp (no pun honest) and the machine went

cant have been fixed as it was in a pub and they dont know anything about fruit machines. they have to call out an engineer every time the slightest thing goes wrong *sigh*

Some landlords DO fiddle payouts, it's what was happening in a pub near me and IMO still is. It was just rumours without proof. But a few have had their collars felt by the Gaming Board and Trading Standards. Spot checks can be done at any time and a few have been caught out good and proper.

It offered you a JP from the supershots on your first credit, and you are complaining? Wouldn't be the first machine to divert cocked up JPs into a streak pot of some sort.

How can gaming people see whether or not the landlord has fiddled the payouts?

How can gaming people see whether or not the landlord has fiddled the payouts?
By checking the percentages. Anyone could get hold of a set of keys and set the percentage up and down when they liked. They are allowed to do random checks at any time. If you believe something fishy is going on you can report them and they will check it out for you. People with nothing to hide would not refuse a check. A common one is to set the percentage really high and make people think it's a good payer then wind it down a few weeks/months later to make their money back. Playing with fire there though. You could end up with your gaming license revoked and a whopper of a fine.
Going slightly off thread here sorry.
