sorry mrmystery83 but thats not true.

its completly up to the landlord what % he wants his machine and he can ask for it to be changed between 70% and 98% as many times as he wants and at any time.

although it it very rare that landlords do this as they dont want to be fiddling with the insides and also if you change the % it doesn't automatically change straight away it needs a couple of days of heavy play before it comes into effect.

the vast majority of pub machines are set on 76 to 80 %.

the worst machines to play are funfair machines as they are all screwed down to 70%.

thats my experience anyway.

I know they can ask for them to be changed but i'm sure i've heard of cases when the Landlord has wound the payout down themselves below the legal limit and been caught and had their gaming license revoked and or fined. As far as i was aware the payouts can be and are checked, without warning to catch them out. There's a lot of it going on. Makes you wonder for all the ones that get caught how many get away with it.

the thing is the machines cant go down further than 70% which is within the law so if a publandlord can put it down further then he knows more than me and i've been enginnering for 13 years.

what landlords do get fined for is having a 25 quid jackpot machine in there pub and not having a license.

It offered you a JP from the supershots on your first credit, and you are complaining? Wouldn't be the first machine to divert cocked up JPs into a streak pot of some sort.

cocked up? knocking back a JP when u have MEGA STREAK lit, then gettin nowehere near it for another £10 is not saving for a streak - that's taking the piss!! on £5 remember!

I thought they could? Does than even apply to the older machines as well? Sorry mate i'm certainly not trying to make out i know more than you or anything. But i'll say again i'm pretty sure some Landlord have been caught fiddling payouts below the 70. But if i'm wrong then furry muff lol (fair enough)

I was lead to believe that it cannot be done with standard program ROMs due to the fact they follow BACTA standards, but that they could be hacked to allow percentages to drop below the legal minimum.

(Would take a fair bit of expertise mind..........)

legally the machines cant be set lower than 70%,even engineers cant set them any lower.

the only time a machine will run lower is when an update of program chips happens as that clears all memory and the machine has to then reach its target %.

machines in the last 15 years have all worked like that,i cant say i know for sure on machines older than that.

sometimes you get landlords who buy their own machine as well as a rented one and they are then fiddling the customs and excise out of license duty.

yeah thay are all regulated by bacta.

I bought a VIU flyer off e bay and it came in the post today. It actually says on it inspired by the legendary Hellraiser. I'll add it to the flyers section once i've scanned it and i've worked out how to do it! Unless it's already there? Haven't checked yet. The flyer is in VGC might start collecting these.

A £5 player as well then?
I went on SRM and got a HOT streak and it paid the £5 so Mega Streak would be a good enough wn!

This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.
If you are more interested in playing modern machines,
visit Jackpottyforums

(DOND is around now on this site..... How long was this sig out of date...!)

The one thing I disagree with, is that when you change stake and/or jackpot, the RAM of the machine is reset. You are basically playing from a clean slate. Even if you just change the machine from £5/5p to £5/10p, it wipes the RAM.

However, the RAM is not changed if you change the percentage payout from 98% to 70%.

I've done this on my Spiker previously, but not on my current machines. You can set the machine to 98%, play it like a total nutter, leave it at the end of a large streak, and wind it back down to 70%. The machine now has to aim for 70% after being stuck on approx 98% payout, and is inevitablely going to play badly to do it.

While as Baz said, it may take a while to do it, if it means a landlord playing the machine like a nutter for a couple of hours after closing, or before opening, then some will do it.

It'll only be those that actually own their own machines mind, and if thats the case it's also unlikely IMHO they'll bother with the license and will be bent from the offset anyway.

Pretty sure some of my local pubs are doing this at the moment. TBH I'm not that surprised, dad appears to be about the only person that plays** machines in any of my locals these days.

** when I say 'plays', I mean more than dropping in a small amount of shrapnel on the way back from the bar.

Well in a pub where i go apparently the payouts are dodgy. You always get one giver and one taker. One pays out like a good 'un but the other one is pants. Keys are easy to get hold of for machines at the end of the day. But it's not worth the risks if you get caught IMO. I've heard there's a crackdown on this sort of stuff at the moment.

If you do think a machines dodgy and you don't think they have a license. Report 'em that'll sort it.

In relation to the thread, how do i add my VIU flyer to the flyers section of the gallery?

There's Two options here, either create your own gallery (you'll see 'upload photos' in the top right) or open a manufacturer and submit the same way as is described in brackets.

Should you still have problems send images to me via an email and i'll up for you to wherever you want them posted.
