Nice pic of Tooty Fruity there Compost. That was among the first machines I played.
When I used to go to Thompsons arcade, every time I went to Bridlington as a kid aged about 6 (to see mums side of the family, several relatives live there), I hadn't a clue about the fruit machines. I was always more into the 'unusual' stuff.
Tooty Fruity was there, Rifle Range, several Allwin machines, the 2p OXO machines I mentioned above, a couple of 'what the butler saw' machines (I had no idea what to expect, being a kid of 6 or so, but for people that don't know it is a machine you look into, and as you wind a handle it flicks through what were black and white photographs, normally of a lady undressing
).
Also used to play the roll a coin machines. Fruit machines never really interested me until later on, I was more into things that relied on mechanisms rather than computers.
The first machines I did play in there must have been some kind of BFM Super Nudge Gambler thing, ones with the huge plastic dome buttons.
