In preparation for getting a machine at home, I am trying to educate my other half as to how to play a fruit machine.
We were in Weston-Super-Mare yesturday, where I found a Vamp It Up set to 80% at 10p/£5.
I assumed that it would effectivly play the same as a 25p/£25 version, and assumed that if I stuck a couple of quid in, it would be eqivilant to putting £5 into a 25p version.. But after £4, I hadn't even got onto the feature.. The closest I came, was a Boost on a Bonus which took me to the top of the trail, but not the feature.
Clearly, either the machine had been emptied, or it wasn't really at 80%, but I figured that after 40 credits had been played, I would have seen SOME action.. After all 40 credits on a 10p machine is the same as putting £10 into a 25p machine!
Could it be that a 10p machine plays differently to a 25p version?
Any info on this would be appreciated
Jon

Should a 10p/£5 machine, play the same as 25p/£25?

On a barcrest or any £5 jackpot machine which rounds up to the nearest £1 I would say not getting a board for £4 is fairly common. I find the average board is probably £3. Once put £15 in a £5 Ultimo for no board!. I dont think the mathematics breaks down as simple as you suggested, I find they play fairly similiar to £25 machines in the sense they charge the same for boards at times and have the same £2 and £3 blocks at times. Another factor is some £5 machines are in reality are about £20-25 jackpot as I find they like to save up for a streak like this. Just my opinion anyway

Although the jackpot is £5 the machine gives you a better chance of taking a high percentage of the jackpot than on a £25. It is easy to win say £3 or £4 pound on a £25 machine (20-25%ish) where on a £5 jackpot it is easy to collect a £2 win on the feature (40%) These wins as you know are what the machine usually offers you before firing you off. Thats why £25 play better! But as all machines, this is influenced by the trust the bandit has in you! (i.e. the person before you collects the small wins you struggle, if they gamble, the machine gives more opportunities!) I hope this makes sense
