Just to let you all know, ECW will take the place of Velocity on Sky Sports, and if I have heard correct Kurt Angle is now an ECW Wrestler well I think thats what my nephew was blabbing on about

Caught a bit of Smackdown down the pub last night it was on after the Rugby. I saw Kurt Angle. Has he done something with his teeth? It could've been a gumshield but something was funny about them. There's no way he can cut it in ECW. They'd have him for breakfast. I reckon a load of old ECW dvd's will be re-released. Hope they do a tour over here at some point that'd be good.

Pretty high probably but Meanie was well cool. I remember Catus Jack's last match on ECW when they both danced out the ring to New York, New York. Classic. Wonder if some of the other WWE stars who have disappeared are going on ECW? Such as The Dudleys.

Saw Beyond The Mat last night. The film docu that Vince Mcmahon tried to ban. It's a real eye opener. It was really funny seeing some of the ECW promos being filmed in Paul E Dangerously's basement. It showed you behind the camera and his mum was ironing not exactly hardcore lol!! It went behind the scenes of ECW's first PPV. Paul gave them an inspiring speech before they all went out saying people expected them to fail so they should prove them wrong.

Had some good footage of ECW legends. But showed the flipside of the business. It had Mick Foley as Mankind in an I Quit match at the Royal Rumble. Foley's wife and kids were in the audience and they were crying as The Rock had Mankinds hands cuffed behind his back and he was battering his head with a chair. They left before the end they couldn't watch. But Mick has said to his kids before the match that The Rock is daddys friend and he isn't really hurting him and The Rock came over and talked to them. But afterwards the guy who was making the documentary went round to Mick's and showed him the footage of his wife and kids in the audience crying. He said he felt like a bad father for the first time and he might think about retiring but as we know he never did. Not for long anyway.

It also had the living legend Terry Funk announcing at his daughters wedding he was retiring for good. After visiting the doctor and discovering he had severe arthirictic damage to both knees. He did end up coming back as a one off about 5 years ago but the 50 years of Funk retirement PPV was a cracker. It was held in his home town of Amarillo, Texas. I've got it on DVD.

Something i didn't know but i do now was that Spike Dudley used to be a university lecturer before he decided to do into wrestling. It had New Jack on it too. There is a seperate docu on him. But by far the most poignant footage was of Jake 'The Snake' Roberts being re united with his estranged daughter and talking about the struggles with his demons. I remember him in his WWE hey day but i also think he was cool in ECW. He said, in his DVD, Pick Your Poison, which i also recommend, that he'd never watch Beyond The Mat as it was edited wrongly. It showed him in minor promotions struggling to make a living. Something i regret, was missing out on seeing him when he was on at Warrington. Ok it's not exactly Wrestlemania but it would've been great to meet him possibly, and see him do what he does best in the ring.

I've ordered a few more wrestling docu's off e bay hope they'll be as good as Beyond The Mat.

Remember that ECW is STILL A PART OF WWE. Vince McMahon owns all the rights to ECW, the reason that Kurt Angle is in ECW is that they need star power, not because he has left the WWE.

Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer will run the brand of ECW for Vince, but they do not own the product.

The NEW ECW will be not be as controversial as it has been in the past, Vince will never allow it.

Most of the talent that will be a part of ECW is either a part of the old ECW, (Sabu, Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Roadkill, etc) or WWE wrestlers, (Nunzio (reverting to Little Guido), RVD, and others).

I am aware Vince McMahon still owns ECW as i put on an earlier post. Running the 2 along side would be a good money spinner for him. It would be a shame if ECW was toned down i see no reason why it should. I thought that's why it wasen't going to be shown on sky sports? It took them long enough to start airing what they call an unedited, live Raw. Should be interesting to see how it all pans out. Still think the only reason Angle has gone to ECW is because his gimmick is wearing a bit thin in WWE. Don't think he will be able to cut it though IMO. Reckon ECW will have enough stars. Maybe more will join when it gets up and running again. Wonder how much of the power Vince will give Paul in terms of stars he can use? I think altenating wrestlers could work. But i think some stars will realise how potentially career shortening and risky ECW can be and won't want to change brands. Could cause problems if Vince tries to make them go.

It could also maybe give the chance of ECW to finally have some big bucks behind it. I don't think Vince will want to revert back to the good old days of low budget ECW programming. Which, if that happens, might alienate some of the old school hardcore fans who liked it that way.

Yeh but how long are the ECW fans going to keep watching when they are watching a program that has been taped in the same arena before Smackdown or after RAW.

ECW needs to keep the mystique that it had before. It needs the arenas like the old ECW Arena (Alhambra in Philly, I think) and the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. If it doesn't it will most likely become just another brand of WWE, and not the separate entity we all want.

Yeah if they change too much about it there won't be any point in launching it as a separate brand. I wonder if they'll do any shows over here after the UK Smackdown and Raw shows. That'd be cool. But as i said Vince probably doesn't want any more low budget shows and wants to put a bit of money behind it. But i think the low budget it part of ECW's appeal to some people especially the original fans. Maybe that's why some of the wrestlers have only been signed on 12 month contracts in case it flops.
