Hot Stuff: Extra Life Annoyance

I have found an anoying 'feature' in Hotstuff, which I guess is present in all the clones.

When you get an extra life, if you land on the '?' and then end up with a 'Collect Prize', you have no choice but to take the prize, even if its s**t!

This is annoying as an Extra life is always fun to have as you can go mad until you loose it.

But on Hotstuff, you still have to be careful as you can (and usually) do end up with a 'Collect Prize'

Does anyone know if there is a way around this?

Please don't think i'm taking the Mickey here but, welcome to Fruit-Machines.

Addition to your Question is, I too would love to know when an 'extra Life' means as it say's as as far as i'm aware it's swallowed up on the NEXT spin, then there is invincible...an Extra life in my opinion should give a 'possible' JP, just to add a bit of fun a JP MAY be achievable, not a prewritten bit of software where an EXTRA LIFE just means a free spin.

As far as I thought there was a mystery gamble so if you land on collect prize you could gamble it or if you landed above collect prize you could take the mystery,
But Ady is indeed correct and fruities are like that a lot.

yep crazybar you can gamble the ? feature to roll even or lose to hi - lo so collect roll even or gamble collect prize and if you win collect it or if you lose hope for the hi - lo gamble

With Hotstuff (And the clones) when you land on the ?, you get put to another part of the board which has the following

- Jackpot
- Hi/Lo Jackpot
- Move On
- Skill Continue
- Roll Even
- Collect Prize
- Hi/Lo Continue
- Continue Yes/No
- Loose.

When you land on the ?, it puts you on this list at random and then gives you the choice to collect the item you are on now, or gamble to go one above/below.

Anything above (and including) Skill Continue is no lose.. On the others you can die.

If you get here with an Extra life, you should be able to gamble as even if you end up on loose, you just loose your life! BUT.. If you land (or end up) on Collect Prize, you just have to collect one of the stacks (Cash, feature, etc) and can't loose, so you therefore can't loose your extra life.

Its a bit of a pain really and unlike any other machine I have played, as when most offer an Extra Life, you genuinly can play until you loose it!

Only machines without a force collect. Anything which can give 'Collect Prize' or a similar feature from a Mystery space can boot you out.

I used to get it worst on Globals and Barcrest though I believe...

Surely if you have an extra life...then get given a mystery.....If you land on 1 below collect prize, Just collect it and if you lose what ever that mystery was, At least you have lost the extra life and get the option to carry on.

Same would apply if you land on the 1 above collect prize with an extra life, Don't gamble it, collect it and hope you win, if you don't you will lose your extra life, but still be able to carry on or collect what you want?

This may have already been said, but i didn't see it when i scanned the post hehe :)

Fair do's Jon. Just enjoy the machine for what it is. I can think of several machines from years gone by where you used to lose the extra life immediately after you've gained it. The only difference being that you couldn't collect the question mark. It's nothing new. Just a way of making you think you can gamble on. Apply a little common sense to it all and it will fall into place. Remember....The reason fruit machine machine companies make so much money in the first place is because people are more thrilled by gambling hi-lo....or seeing what the result will be if "I do this"....when 99% of the time, you know what will happen but it won't stop you from gambling to get more.

basically you have to manipulate it so you wont land on it, which means take the hi-lo gamble, if you lose then you still ahve your extra life, this is very very usefull when forcing for the jackpot..

surprised you didnt know it.

(if you find you have forced for the hot stuff feature and it pays a flat £25 or near as, carry on and play for a jp from nearest win or superhold)

In my experience JPM's are the worst offenders. Extra Life then 1 spin later gone. What's the point? There's times when you get 3 or more extra lives and don't get any where near the JP. I HATE force collect with an extra life. Especially when you can tell it was on a JP run and was just being bloody awkward.

Another thing that's annoying on Hot Stuff and clones is going straight from one mystery square to another. Wahay carry on then ? again!! And again!! Until you lose. It winds you right up.

I believe I used to get that mostly on BFM / Mazooma, also on Red with the Hi-Lo structure. Used to love it when Red X did that, you were on the position below the £25, on a 3, and just got extra life - higher gives a 2, and you half assume it won't give you a 1 if you go higher - which it often did ;P

I was surprised Barcrest did that. Many Barcrests in recent years were designed so that they couldn't give you 2 Mystery squares in a row. Again BFM IMHO were the worst offenders of Mystery > Mystery.

It depends what sort of a mood it's in. It doesn't always do it. But it annoys you when it does as it might as well kill you on the first ? instead of the 3rd one!! It's not fair really IMO it shouldn't do it at all. It's just another rip off for the player.
