Hi all,

As a long time fan and player of fruitys I was finally bought one for my 30th Birthday, today. It worked for about 3 hours when it arrived then the Impact PSU blew it 's top and I spent 2 weeks getting it running again.
It came without manuals and refill so I have learn't a few more things about the machine, however, I'm still working out the DIP Switches. I know what 1-4 (Stake/Payout) and 8 (Cashpot Maximized) are but I'm flumoxed by the others. There's a switch reference on the back of the unit but it doesn't match the actual functions, does anyone know the complete switch settings for this machine?
I also noticed the lighs are flickering at a very high frequecy and a few of the bulbs were out, so set about changing them. It turns out that some of the bulbs were fine and changing them made no difference. I metered a few and it was running nearly 40V in some cases. Has anyone come across this fault?
Can anyone help me a little further with this machine or the Impact 3 tech in general?
If anyone wants anything from me in regards to this machine I'll try to help.

hello mate

it sounds like you have a faulty power supply regarding the lights.

the dil switches i'll try to get more infor but i'm sure some of them arn't used for anything.

Baz,

The old power supply blew a cap and tok out the regulator, common I believe, which blew a diode on the MPU board. A well known company were kind enough to send me out a diode for free and I also had a new PCB sent out for it which seemed to be in perfect order. The buzzing/flickering is virtually non-existant at the moment but I wondered about any correspondance to the faulty lights. I noticed that all of the holders have a diode in place...if these go wil it stop the bulb working in that place?

I just thought of one other question I had about it. It has a variable percentage key fitted but changing the switches sems to make no difference. I can apparently change the %age using the test mode although I'm not sure if this actualy works. Can anyone shed light on the subject?

the lights buzzing or flickering if definitly down to the power supply but if some lights aren't even coming on then one or more of the light transistors may well be blown on the mpu.


the % can be changed through the test routines.
once you are into the test routines there is a % test feature which allows you to change it very easily.

Thanks for that info. I'm going to leave it at the 72% for now as it's in use as y piggy bank.

Sorry to keep asking questions but do you have a service manual/wiring diagram for this tech. Has each lamp got it's own transisitor or are they all via the larger ICs? I am skilled with a multi-meter and soldering iron so as long as I can get the right components I can repair it. It seems that they are out in a random order so without the wiring diagram it would be a nightmare to trace.

Are you a service engineer then? My father used to work for Associated Leisure and a few other companies in Liverpool back in the 70s/80s, I loved to go with him of a weekend and play on the machines in the workshops. He then became Casino manager for Holiday Inn in South Africa, again giving me the opportunity to ply the one arm bandits out of hours

hello

unfortunatly i do not have a manual for this machine but you may still be able to get a download version from jpm/crystal on their website.

on the motherboard you will see a connection that is marked lamps,beside this plug there will be lots of transistors and at least one of them will be blown.

yes i am a service engineer up in scotland with a large independent company with depots in perth,dundee and edinburgh.

Crystal are the new JPM, is that right? It seems JPM have changed their website recently and all of the support side is missing.

I'll check the board over at those transistors but they are all visibly OK.
