Hello every one, sorry If this is in the wrong place, but not sure which is the best place.
Ive just brought a fruit machine, rich geezer by bell fruit machines, this is the first one ive brought and I don’t know much about them.
It was delivered yesterday and 3 of us got it upstairs and into the bedroom.
We was opening the draws quite a bit, looking where everything was and plus getting the money out as we didn’t have enough pound coins to fill the hoppers. The machine reset itself after we opened the doors is this normal also it reset it self after we won the £5 jackpot, also when it was resetting itself it would do it 2 or 3 times before it came on to play. Ive checked the connections and changed the power lead, but still no change. Switch it on this morning and it came on first time.
Is this normal? And idea’s please
Cheers
Mark

hello

the machine will reset when you open and close the doors but it shouldn't reset when you win a jackpot or keep reseting.

if the machine has been kept in cold storage for a while then that can cause problems with the power supply.

also dry joints on the power supply can also cause the machine to reset.

do not try to repair the joints on the power supply if you do not know what you are doing!!!!

best thing to do is look in a local yellow pages and look for amusement machine suppliers and they should have a scorpion 4 power supply which is what is inside your machine or if they can test your power supply as its resetting(they may be able to repair yours instead of suppling a new one.

baz

do BFM machines have the same problem with the Switch Matrix as System 5? The problem sound similar to when the switch matrix shorts on system 5 boards.

this is a very common fault on scorpion boards. I am a ex engineer and have vast experiance in these heaps of junk lol

There are a few things you can check

1.) ensure all the earth straps are secured , includding one that goes to mpu
2.) All wires are pushed in firm on both the mpu and the power supply (arcs have in past given me greif look at actuall grimps themselves and mpu pins)
3.) if you can hear a horrible whine come from the psu its buggerd
4.) insure the contacts on the Prom card are clean and free from ironization or similar thing (where contacts kinda rust but with a white coating)
5.) do a hard reset of the mpu by shorting the battery breifly - also check its not leaked all over the board (has been known)
6.) if u can run the machine with the door open in test mode keep a eye out on the red LED - does it suddenly flicker or do something of that nature
7.) if all else fails , try and obtain a fresh copy of proms , as these are prone to corruption on bellfruit machines
8.) insure i know its daft but has caused problems , the connections on the stakes and prizes key and if its switchable check connections are pucker.

Also do you get a onn-off alarm on it after it resets if u dont its crashing programme wise and good chance its not psu related

If none of the above work , take the machine to a large clearing , pour petrol all over it , and have yaself a bonfire cause its all bellfruit are worthy for is fine fire wood lmao. Most reliable belive it or not is barcrest or barripyaoffrest games.

Hope that helps , need any more info give me a shout

Hi, this isnt really relevant to this thread but its a question for mrmonopoly. Could you by any chance have a look at my 'Who wants to be a legionnaire?' thread and see what you think as regards that problem as I am still stuck. Its in the 'Real Fruit Machines' forum. No problem if you cant.

Cheers

in answer to your post , if you look closely at the door lock , the tab also presses down on a switch there. This usually gives the Door UNLOCKED alarm which I think is what you mean. Check the tab is securely bolted , and the lock has not moved around so the tab isnt pressing firmly on the switch. Also check you didnt unplug a wire from the switch when trying to pull out the speaker wire if you have and u have pulled a few its a bitch to get back in right order. I usually jam that switch down with some tape or superglue it down. Hope this helps , any more q's let me know

Hi, i've taped the switch down but im still having the same problem, that being that i get a tamper ON/OFF alarm after the machine has booted up, and when that clears after about 5mins its replaced by 'DOORS OPEN' display and an alarm. As i say i cant understand it because the button is depressed and all the points pushed in behind it. It doesnt come on straight away when i boot up, nor does it come on when the top door is open and im playing in free play. im completely lost. any ideas?

Cheers

It is definatly that switch located on the top door. When the door is "LOCKED" a tab presses that switch and its totally seperate to the switch on the actuall door (in other words the top door as TWO switches) Another thing u can check is , there should be 1 common wire , and then another wire that can be pressed onto 2 contacts (there are 3 in total) . I suggest what u do is , disconect the wires from that lock switch and actually just short them together because u could have a faulty switch. If that doesnt work follow the loom back and check the cable isnt broken anywhere.
