*Link to a video at the bottom *
Just seen the most amazing video of a Pachinko machine in ages.
For those that don't know what Pachinko is, it's a Japanese version of the old Allwin machines we used to have, where you fire ball bearings upwards onto a playing surface, and they land in different pockets, awarding different prizes (or as was often the case, your 1p coin back, or maybe an individual cigarette lol).
Anyway, in Japan they still use machines like these, but they've gone seriously hi-tech.
Rather than a ball landing in a pocket, and you just being awarded BBs, you are given a spin of some reels. In the case of the machine I own, Lord of the Rings by Sankyo, the reels are actually on an LCD screen.
However Sankyo released a machine for the World Cup, and I've never seen a reel arrangement like it.
Some of you will find it totally pointless, but I will make it my mission to get one of these damn things into the UK, it is just that mental.
What you see in the video is whats known as a 'REACH' (well, several examples of it), you may hear a voice say something like 'ICHIII', which I'm guessing is their pronounciation of reach. Reach occurs when you get 2 like symbols on the reels, and it is designed to build suspense before the 3rd reel finally stops on it's chosen symbol.

Yeah, I know, I'm considering moving away from the slot machines (Pachislots) and going towards these Pachinkos.
Mind you, the amount of bloody noise they make, I've come away from Lord of the Rings several times with ringing in the ears, you don't tend to notice until you walk away.
Must be something about firing thousands of metal balls at metal pins with a glass screen, makes quite a racket

Sure, I've got a pic of LOTR here, not mine but shows it off better :
I believe that device stuck to the left hand side of the machine is a yen>ball changer, which mine doesn't have fitted.
Note : The picture is large but is hosted on my personal webspace.
I got my machines from Steve at Slots Direct ( www.slotsdirect.tv ), he sells through eBay as 'invicta-telecom'.
I think the best way to contact him is by email, haggle with him a bit.
Zetz cost me a fair bit because it was my first machine, I did a Buy It Now of £129 + £40 P&P (so for arguments sake £170). I reckon if I haggled I could have got it for less, but for a year old machine I was happy with the price I paid.
However, my last two machines worked out quite a bit cheaper because I bought a pair, so paid combined delivery, and also at the same time bought 2000 extra tokens and a pair of token trays, and 200 extra balls for LOTR.
The more you buy at a time the cheaper it works out... although I think 4 machines is probably enough for me (It'll take me a while to source one of these football machines unless I import direct from Japan, which I'm not willing to do )

ok, I really wanna buy one of these pachislo slot machines, but...
Can you tell me what all this skill level thingy is about, i mean you know those stupid little triple 7 thunder nonsense they sell in the gadget shop, they have skill stop reels etc, so is there any difference between that, and one of these bigger machine, (obvioulsly the differences include made of metal, big, have lights an lcd screens etc, but what is different in the gameplay.
One last thingy m8y'o When you get three red 7's, it says it goes into jackpot mode where you can win from 300-711, (depending what skill your on..) what happens, y can you win 300 one time and 711 next time... HELP!!! lol, what happens to change what you win... ???
Lol, lots of questions that i really hope you can answer ben...
P.s. Saw a LOTR vid of your pachinko... WOW!!!,
OH... that reminds me, how on earth do you make out wot is happening on the lcd screen... a lot of characters with number next to em... EH???
lol
Thanks man, i think that enough questions, but as you can prob tell, if im to buy one, i wanna make sure that i am making right choice... ALSO,
If anyone else wants to buy a pachislo or pachinko, go to the website that ben posted, sellin em for like £75 INC DELIVERY

In terms of gameplay, probably a great deal. After all, I'm guessing a Triple Thunder (sure I used to sell these at Argoose) didn't have an LCD display. Didn't (I'm assuming) have a proper bonus round.
Skill levels are basically the same as the UK Payout Percentage. Levels 1>6 are the standard, where Level 1 may be 60%, Level 6 may be 120%. You can have a percentage above 100% because the tokens you buy for one exchange rate from the change kiosk are worth LESS when you trade them in.
One last thingy m8y'o When you get three red 7's, it says it goes into jackpot mode where you can win from 300-711, (depending what skill your on..) what happens, y can you win 300 one time and 711 next time... HELP!!! lol, what happens to change what you win... ???
Heres a tricky one. Theres different classes of machines. Type A, B and C (this is purely for Pachislos, that is, Slot Machines, which take tokens). Some machines will give you a set amount of wins in a bonus round : my Super Blackjack gives 3 rounds of 15 tokens x 8 + any wins from the 30 spins in which the 3 rounds take place (complicated!)
My King Camel's Big Bonus gives you 50 spins (which are counted down), and you will win on MOST of the 50 spins.
My Neo Pharaoh Zetz has a Pharaoh Bonus, which seems to give pretty much anything, I've had 70 odd to 450 tokens from it. However it often follows up with a Pharaoh Rush, which I've had 60 > 520 tokens from. It's much more 'variable' than the other two machines.
So where it says '310>710' or whatever. I played my Super Blackjack over Webcam to Crazybar on here, and I managed about 1000 tokens out of it over the cam. They can queue up bonuses and give some pretty huge wins. Similarly I've had bonus rounds which are shite
My best win was about 1500 tokens within about 10 minutes on Zetz during a particularly mental period.
Thats the fun I guess

Simple really. Those are reels, numbered 1>7 on each reel. Each number is a different character, and being an LCD screen, all manner of special effects occur on the reels.
3 of ANY number kicks off a FEVER round.

So then... Lol, one LAST question, you say that you can set the percentage level (or skill level),does that mean that they only play to their percentages, i.e is this REALLY a game of skill.. coz surely, you could be an expert an get 15 coins per 3 coins spent, therefore making additional coins all the time...
Or the other one was,
If you say, you get a pharoes bonus, which is shortly followed by a pharoes rush, is this just a randomly given bonus, because surely it cant be skill if pharoes rush has come up after a pharoes bonus (frequently)...
ONE LAST THING... hehe
Can i view ya webcam whilst ya play.. hahaha... Seriously id love that lol.
Thanks man.

Okies, here goes :
There isn't a great deal of skill involved. Much like a UK Skill With Prizes (say a Trivia machine) makes it impossible to win at certain times, a Japanese machine can do this. The reels are allowed to 'slip' up to 4 symbols from when you stop them, and unless they really want to land on the symbols you stop them on, they don't have to.
It isn't random, same as UK machines drop the percentage to allow a streak, these will do the same, HOWEVER they are pretty unexpected, although maybe thats just because I've been playing UK machines for nearly 10 years and these for a couple of months
Yeah, no probs

I have all the time and respect for Ben --- But I got to say Pachinkos suck donkey balls... I got one and it looked good --- But absolutely no pretense at skill and annoying.. Boring.. Pointless... Thousands of Japanese loading them up with balls -- Look at the pictures not a smile on one of their faces...
If I didn't say before Pachinko suck donkey balls!
