Hey,
Ive got a 'Indiana Jones'' machine from JPM/Proma ( the German version, not the UK one with nudges ) and ive dowloaded the ROMs to my PC from the eprom board. The sound eprom file seems to be OK as i can hear the samples, but the program roms wont play.
Some alarm is heard ( sample #13) and then i see at the Alpha display:
IM
IMPACT
IM
IMPACT
it does that all the time. Ive verified the EPROM's during a few new reads but they always give the same output. Could the EPROM be encrypted in some way? The strange thing is that they actually work in the real machine, so they are not damaged.
I hope someone can help me
Kind regards,
mathijs

Hi, Mathijs!
After all, I meet another person who owns the same machine than me... :-)
Unfortunately, I don't have the possibility to read out the ROMs yet, but I'm working on it. My goal is to exchange the german sound sample ROM with the english one, as the german samples are not from the movies but very bad translations.
So, I want to read out the ROMs for backup purposes and install a new one with the samples floating around the web.
On the other hand, I don't believe that the german ROMs are working properly in the emulator since the machine is different from all the british versions (I have seen so far on the net), but I will give it a try, when I got those ROMs dumped.
However, my machine behaves strangely, the lights in attract-mode are permanently on and don't cycle, though during play everything's fine. Maybe we can exchange the ROMs once I tracked mine down, so I can see if it's a memory problem?
And another thing: Do you have a manual for the machine? I don't have and it's near to impossible to get one. I tried to contact JPM on that, but had no success so far. I need to replace some light bulbs, but don't know what lamps are used and I don't know the DIP switch settings either. (There are two DIP boards in my machine.)
So, if you can help me out with some information, I would be very glad.
Kind regards,
the.headz

just a quick answer to the second poster.
the lights being dim on attract mode is a bulb saving feature which should be able to turn off and on via the dip switches.
have a look at the dips and if there is 1 switch at the on position it may be this one that gives the low bulb attract mode.

@bazpeeb: Thank you very much, you were absolutely right. In the meantime I saw in another forum that the thread starter had posted a lot of pictures of his machine (and even the roms) and on one picture there was the label with the DIP switch settings my machine is missing.
So I could determine that the DIP switch no. 4 (labelled "Nullbeleuchtung aus") is responsible for the lights to stay permanently on in attract mode.
@all: Maybe someone's able to help me with my other problems with the german "Indiana Jones".
1. What are the other DIP switch settings for? The labels are not really helpful. Beside "Nullbeleuchtung aus", there's "Automatisch spielen" (automatic play), "Leeren ein" (empty on), MultiCoin/SingleCoin and "Zählerkontrolle" (counter control). I just know too little about those machines to figure out what the settings actually do.
And on the coin control board you can switch between "hopper" and "GKP". What does that stand for? What happens if you switch off the hopper?
2. While cleaning the machine I not only found some coins inside but also two keys for a key switch that has obviously been disabled. So what are the functions of the two key switches on the left outside of the cabinet (the one that's still wired needs a universal key (round with a hole inside))
And 3. Has anyone an idea what lamps are needed for this machine? (Volt/Watt) There are about ten that need a replacement and so far as I can tell they're all the same.
@Mathijs (and back to topic): I tried your roms in the emulator and I am more convinced now than ever, that the german version of Indiana Jones runs on a slightly different hardware. There are some game elements completely missing (e.g. nudge feature) others were modified and even the samples play back at a different sample rate (and there are less than in the UK machine), so without further knowledge I guess they modified the hardware, too. On my machine (the board is from 1995) are three expansion cards (did you remove one for the photo?), one labelled "Export memory card". So, unless that refers to some kind of "special memory", maybe the manufacturer modified the export machines?
