Yep as Alth said..sometimes using these programs can cause more damage than good..I totaly screwed up my machine ages ago with one of these programs I **cough** bought..because it searches for newer versions of currently installed drivers and newer dosent always mean better dependant on motherboard compatibilty etc.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Cloud_999 in my home I got 3 pcs one is my server, one my laptop and one my parents PC I have created install disks for each, 64 bit for my lappy, XP Pro for my server, 2000 for my parents all disks are just boot and walk away I am fortunate in that I have 2 net connections my own ntl and my parents Tiscali should they ever fail on me.
I keep going on about nlite for a good reason, for example Realtek drivers under standard XP suck and MFME fails with the 'runs too slow to do jack shit' error. Therefore my install disk here has the latest slipped into the install so in all my server disk has the following.
VIA Hyperion Pro
Nvidia forceware
Via USB (not always needed but hey better in than f***ed)
Realtek redist
VIA Rhine
That way I know I can leave that disk in the machine and once booted its 100% back online I can then update the f***er with new patches.
Laptop has its own 64bit disk, all ready with latest for even the modem not that I will use it ever but meh its there if needed.
just check out nlite it needs the .net framwork just it can save a heck of a lot of work if XP aint got native drivers for some exotic hardware.

My Firewire card installed automatically, but I've done a search for you which took me to their website. Here's what they say about your VIA VT6306 firewire chip -
If you are using WinXP, you will find that the drivers are built into the operating system and they should install automatically through "adding new hardware. For all other Microsoft operating systems, you must obtain the drivers from Microsoft.
