Hi folks.. how often do problems occur with home machines.. im currently trying to buy an Italian Job 3 machine off a local supplier for £225 but there is no warranty with it.. Is it a big risk to take or are they generally reliable.

Most things that can go wrong are easy to remedy, but surely if anything was going wrong then the supplier would actually be liable for repair etc under the Sale of Goods Act which states goods must be of a merchantable quality?

I'm not a fan of EPOCH based machines (the tech Maygay used before Barcrest took the name on), so I'm probably not the best one to ask.
I'm a little surprised that no warranty is given though, I'd expect a 30 days parts swapout type warranty (i.e your mech fails, you swap your failed one with the supplier for a working one).

here is the reply from the supplier::
> Italian Job 3 about £200 that includes mains lead, you would have to let me
> know what price of play you require
> 10p £5 or 25p £25
seems like a good deal to me and a good themed machine..
he says "about" so i might phone him and try haggle to get it even cheaper..
i havent played this machine but ive played the pervious 2 and both are buggers but its kinda different if your the guy with the keys!
cheers !

When i buy my machines i ask for at least 3 months warrenty, which is why i was able to get Critical Mass, out of warrenty because there was too many problems. Plus i had a problem with the coin mech on my Im a celebrity machine a few months ago and had a new one under warrenty.

if you are buying from a local supplier then insist on at least a months warrenty and get it with a receipt.
they could be selling you a machine they having problems with.
its a good machine and probably a good price if its not fecked or damaged.
remember though that the technology that is inside this machine is now no longer available as epoch tech is being faded out.
if i had £200 to spend on a machine i would go for a barcrest mpu5 machine which you should be able to get.

If there's no warranty offered on the machine then they obviously have no confidence in it working properly so, if I were you, I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.... Unless you like spending vast amounts of money on scrap

The supplier is herondata (http://www.herondata.co.uk/) .. Im trying to deal with Select amusements .. they havent got anything that takes my fancy but alex assures me new machines are comming .
They offer 3 months warranty as standard so i will probably do business with them if they can get me something i want ..
