Is it broke? Does it do what you want? If so don't fix it.

alth

No its not broke but I would like it to be quicker as sometimes it cant half be sluggish. Especially when you have 2 or more programs running.
I used to be schitzophenic but were ok now.

Ok, I think I can beat you all with the following....

http://h10025.www1.h...ocname=bph04901

Only difference to stated specs is that it's running a 20 gig Seagate 4U HD & 384 MB SD RAM, with SuSE Linux v10...... It's also the same machine that runs the tv-am IRC server on the TVeps network for when you use the #mpu34 room.

The record held on the TVeps network so far has been a 266 mhz rig with 10 gig/256 MB ram

Down here is the old PC I built about 4 years ago (pretty sure I built it in my last year of school), its :

AMD Athlon XP 2000+... 1.66GHz I believe),
512mb DDR... 64mb of that used by SIS graphics :(
SB Live 5.1 Sound,
120gb Hitachi badged IBM Deskstar HDD

My silent PC upstairs is running

AMD Athlon64 3000 (running at Athlon+ 3500 speed)
512mb DDR (Geil Ultra)
256mb Nvidia Geforce 5200 (... well it's a silent model, ok for emulation)
SB Live 5.1 Sound,
80gb Seagate Barracuda HDD

I won't be upgrading that one for a while, apart from possibly swapping out the CPU and replacing it with something else overclocked.

i was one of these plebs that upgraded his computer every XX weeks so that i could have the best. it was costing me a fortune and i was not really seeing the benefits, i now have -

3.20 pentium
2.0 gb RAM
3x160gb HD`s
1x lightscribe DVD
1x labelflash DVD
pci-e gfx x600

ive worked out that the RAM is sufficient for the video editing, and the 3.2 CPU is good enough for the video rendering and of course playing the MFME stuff.

i recon i`ll upgrade when the next generation of s-ata drives come out, and the CPU prices of ther current fastest has come down to mere pounds again.

Intel Pentium 4 630
Gigabyte GA 8I945PL-G
2GB Corsair Dual Channel PC4200
250Gb SATA300 Seagate 7200.9
256Mb Sapphire PCI-E ATI X700

I got rather p*ssed off with the lack of updates i could do with my shop bought machines so decided to build my own... Never looked back!!

Got my dell workstation here

Dumped from Dxdiag - removed all the crap and kept the necessary.
------------------
System Information
------------------

BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A05
Processor: Intel® Xeon™ CPU 3.00GHz (4 CPUs) 2x 3ghz Xeon
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 6800 Ultra (Dual Head) Memory: 256.0 MB
Hard disks: ADAPTEC RAID 0 SCSI Disk Device 2 x 300GB 15k RPM Disks Raid 0

Its a dell precision 670 prebuild then doubled the memory and changed the graphics card to a 6800GT Ultra (at the time this was the mutts) 2x19 Dell TFT screens makes it awesome to be playing casino crazy While reading the forums !

I'm looking to change it for the new Xps system when they drop in price (by about £1000 hopefuly :p )

Well I run either a Gateway G6-400 or a Dell Dimension 4700(Tricked up)
I dont kow if mines p1 or p2...But I voted less because I cant download really...Hard disk is full and 250 kb items take 10 seconds to DL. I'm here on a 400Mhz Celeron processor. Wepages take a time to load...But if FE is ok then I'm fine;) But it cant handle 2 Fruit Emu pages open. If you close one and do something to the other it crashes. Heap o' shite. 6Gb Hard drive, 64 MB RAM I think, no cool graphics card, no speakers, no screen...No thats an understatement but I wouldnt be surprised if I was madly clicking around here one day!!!

BUT that goes without saying I have got a hyped up P4 HT Windows XP. Don't know if its the most advanced but it runs on 8.1Mbps at the most when online. It has updated graphics and sound...Perfect for Emus!:D

What started as a joke has as I see it converted into a "look at me thread"

The topic WAS the shittiest...not the BEST!

There's loads of youngsters and oldies alike that actually cannot afford stuff and have to make do with what they have!

True. I started this for a laugh and to find out what percentage of people are unable to play SP.ace games...lol. Like you say, a significant percentage of the population can't afford to be state of the art. I don't mind you guys voting in the poll but this thread is supposed to be for people with shitty specs.

I think I'm still in the lead overall.... ;)

Sorry Alth...Just went for the most popular. Shall I stick some up for other operating systems too? What about dial-up or monitors? f*** me, could have had 30 options up there ;)

As for Windows '98 I've just had a rather nice pay rise so I'm saving up for a completely new system and flog this bastard on e-bay. Should get £200 for it if I keep all the fruities on the hard drive...lol

Well I have got MFME to run under linux running wine.

AMD Fx57 cpu
2gig corsair Xpert Series Ram
A-Bit Fatal1ty Mobo
X2 Nvida 7900 Gtx 512mb (each) Gainward Bliss "goes like hell" SLI Graphics
Antec P180 case
X2 Western Digital 250gb Sata Hdd (500 gig total)
Antec True Power PSU (650w)

id like to say that i was just showing off, but im not, cause im a twat.
why am i twat?
because i paid top dollar to build this system, and then intel only go and release the core 2 duo cpu which has slaugherd the prices of amd kit, so my system devauled by almost 60% in a few short weeks. GUTTED.

By the way i can run fruit emu 3 on it but only just!!! :) lol

My worst machine is an old Crappard Bellend lappy:

Celeron 366MHz 128k cache
96MB RAM
4.3GB HDD (S.M.A.R.T. predicts "imminent failure" at every single boot)
24x CDROM
12" TFT
Neomagic MagicGraph 128XD 2D graphics
ESS Maestro2 sound
Knackered fan
Battery performance of a cheap Chinese capacitor
Running WinXP (!) & Win98SE

It can only just manage Proconn. Or any tech for that matter. Used mainly for DOS mode ROM dumping on the move.

Hey i wasnt bragging, that is the worst machine i have.

I work in IT doing development and a lot of web stuff so i have to have a pretty pucker machine to do my job both Home and at work.

The worst machine i ever owned - that would be an old dx2 66 386 with 4mb of gut busting ram but i dont own that any more - only the one i mentioned earlier and a new dual core intel box.
