MPU 6.0 is the best emulator ever! It runs a treat on an AMD Athlon K2 with Windows '98. Games like Jackpot Gems are just so quick, it's the knees of the bee. The BFMulator runs a treat as well on such a rig, Dr. Who, Cops 'n Robbers, fast as you like. Impacts, SP.Aces, anything else in fact, forget it.
However when you want to play a poxy Union Games in MFMEv2.0 and above it goes sooooooo slowly it's enough to make you give up and just play the actual machine in the arcade. Why is something as simple as Fruit Drop or Triple Madness sooooo slow I wonder? Less lamps than some of the hi-techs and quite a straightforward game. Fruit Drop classic, why so slow? Don't tell me I need Windows Xp and a P4 processor. Outrageous! That said, the old BBC Micro Game Stuntman runs like viscous jelly superglued to a fat slug on the Acorn Emulator.
Upgrade calling....

On the contrary, Union games run like a dream as do most things, even on this heap of junk. SP.ace games are the only non-starter. Don't understand why.

Well, there's two things you could do to make the machines run faster. The first thing you could try, is to convert the reels, so they're using the new type.
When you go into MFME2.0's configuration screen, you should see an option on the bottom that says "convert reel"
Check that box, then load-up the layout/s that are running slower than they should.
Should see a noticeable increase in speed if the reels have not been converted before.
The other option you could try, if it's a classic that's running slowly, is to make the reels themselves smaller.
Some classic layouts I've seen use very large reels, which can slow the emulation down quite a lot.
Here's my PC setup. Just had it, and it runs very nicely. Still needs a chunk of ram though.

More than likely its the code mix an emulation is running more than one CPU core at the same time together with the serial communication between the various parts hence why tekken in mame is slow and pacman flies hate to see what MPU5 would do to that machine.

I dunno how to take a shot of my screen so my comp is as follows,
Amd Semprom processor 3000+, 1.80ghz, 448 mb of ram.
Seems a bit poor to the ones you all seem to have. (Except for Gazeyres , I think my old school scientific calculator had more than that lol)

Sorry Alth...Just went for the most popular. Shall I stick some up for other operating systems too? What about dial-up or monitors? f*** me, could have had 30 options up there
As for Windows '98 I've just had a rather nice pay rise so I'm saving up for a completely new system and flog this bastard on e-bay. Should get £200 for it if I keep all the fruities on the hard drive...lol

Is it broke? Does it do what you want? If so don't fix it.
