Took mum and dad out for a celebratary meal last night (had Dads university graduation earlier in the day) and had a blinder of a curry.

Seeing as how theres little to talk about, (and the lovely curry chaps told us to bring home what we hadn't finished, which I had for breakfast earlier  ) - I thought I ask about what other chaps like.

Mines an odd one.

I love Chicken Dupiaza (also sometimes called Dopiaza, or Dopazia), which is basically a fairly thick curry sauce with a lot of fried onion it it, and normally plenty of garlic. I tend to ask for it vindaloo strength as it's normally not spicy in the slightest (which is nice sometimes but you can't beat a Curry that makes you sweat :D )

I occasionally go for Vindaloo or Phall, especially with delivered curry. Phall is an interesting one. I seem to recall the last one I had the chap tried twice to talk me out of it! Pretty tricky to eat, as it gives you pretty crazy burning sensations, and I kept waking up in a fair bit of pain, having to roll over :)

Anyone else in the mood for discussing Curry? :D

Can't beat a good garlic curry. I used to have one called a Roshon in one of my locals, it was basically a curry with extra garlic in but it also had a drizzle of some kind of creamy, incredibly garlicy sauce on top :)

Must say im quite partial to a

Chicken tikka balti but made hotter to madras strength

bombay potatoes or a balti potato if i go to the right curry house( these are the best ive ever had just like bombay pot but in a balti dry sauce much hotter)

Chilli pilau rice or like i had delivered last night due to poor understanding of english i got 2 pilau rice lol

chilli cheese naan or maybe a keema naan

some popadoms mango chutney is a must cant buy the crap you get from curry houses anywhere!!! lime pickle

Always wanted to try a phall but never got round to it suppose the way forward is to ask for a phall sauce and go from there.

Think we should also let people know where we go for a takeaway or sit down curry, assist all forum members in getting a good curry lol

I have to say that my local takeaway does a brilliant Chicken Biryani. (medium to hot). Lovely mix of pilau rice, peas, onions, assorted spices and peopers, chicken breast and a tongue lashing indian style sauce. Goes great along with a nice slab of garlic naan and a couple of jars.

Chinese wise, can't beat a good old chicken & mushroom curry.

I was just waiting for someone to say this.......

Do you know part 2 lol

Ask for a Chicken Tikka Massala in India and you will be given a real funny look...why?....

Because it's not served in India...this is a British (as in the UK) contraption that was created in the UK for the pallette of the English market when Indian Take Aways became popular..................honest

Not to say it's not oohhhhhhhh though!

I was thinking about that, I know I've missed it, but I don't appear able to modify the poll... and it's not a real curry anyway :) Totally agree with Kingfisher, even if it is brewed in the UK now (AFAIK).

You still live in Peterborough don't you? What do you make of the Bombay Brasserie on the Broadway? Was thinking of taking mum and dad out there in the near future, is it any good?

Hanndi, thats an interesting sounding curry. As for the cheesy pea thing, I agree it's quite good, most places out here call it a Mottor Panir/Paneer, but as always the spelling varies. I like Tarka Dall as a side, but even that varies quite a bit between restaurants. It has to be made with sesame oil or it just isn't right :)

If you fancy a quick giggle, one of the restaurants I use calls Bhuna... Bhona. Couldn't ask for one of those and keep a straight face :p

6 votes for Korma?!

Crikey I have that occasionally in cheap ready meals but last time I had one was when I was in an Indian restaurant and about 8 years old. Still, if you like it, I guess thats ok. Someone will have to explain to me why it's their favourite though!
