Im very great for the help you guys have given me so far, but need a bit more help !

My IMPULSE - HURRICANE warned that its RAM cleared a while ago, because I have not used it for a while. You chaps said about checking the battery on the board.

Now when I turn it on, every time, it makes a loud warning noise and says ON/OFF ALARM in the alpha display. Last for about 5 seconds then the machine starts up as normal.

Is this the battery for sure ?? or something else !!

Any help would be apprecitated, and anyone sell me a battery ?

Ta !!!

switch it on
let the on/off alarm sound and let the machine power up.
play the machine with a coin.
play all the credits.
switch the machine off.
wait for 10 seconds.
turn back on again.
on/off alarm should now be cleared.
if not then yes you have a faulty or dead battery.

I believe it was to stop a cheat called "Plugging" where the player would switch the machine off and on quickly after/before an IM to gain an advantage. The alarm was meant to alert the staff to what had happened so the players could be kapunted out!

This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.

(DOND is around now on this site..... How long was this sig out of date...!)

With respect to the ON/OFF alarm, if the internal clock of the EPOCH is not working you will get this, but sometimes the clock needs kicking into life so try going into the test routine "CLOCK SET" and set a time/date, it might stop it, on some machines you could turn this off with a dil switch "TAMPER DISABLE". Good luck.

The tamper thing sounds good, I will try that. However, if the battery has gone, will it forget the payout figures when it gets powered off ??? Not the setting by the key, but the percentage it is tracking/aiming, as I thought that was battery backed ram.

if the battery is knackered then yes the ram will start again from scratch.
