Hi,
Merry Xmas to everyone and a Happy New Year.
Can anyone please help, ive been playing my new Addams Family Barcrest fruiter with no problems up to now.
It was playing fine then a error message came up on the display with a alarm sounding.
The error is OPTO Alarm 54/28 24V Drive
Ive done a search on this site, but all i can find is a Austin powers post which mentions he has the same code.
I dont have a manual for the machine, but on the message it says 24V Drive so could the power transformer be the problem?
Ive checked all the fuses and they are fine.
Cheers..

the orange loom from the psu should go onto a smaller pcb on the side of the machine, there might be another fuse on there.
ive had it a few times on the older barcrests ( that use an old green label psu) where it melts the power lead!

Hi:
On our Swiss Barcrest-Machines, the "opto-alm" means the photo electric diode on the reels. Check on start-up the correct reel positions. Or go into the "Reel-Test" Mode, the Reels will step to the "Zero" position, so you could find a faulty opto-lens...

try the little circuit board mentioned before, check that all the opto's on the reels are clean, clean em with some alcohol (not beer!) check that all the status lights on the mpu are lit (especially the 24v light - labelled) if not then check again the fuses in the power supply, they may look ok but meter them to make sure.
If all these check ok then you might need a new psu

Hi,
Many Thanks for all the Quick replies.
I noticed alot of dust in and around the power transformer so i vacuumed it all.
I also checked all the plug connections going into the mpu main board, one of the plugs on the top left wasnt fully pushed in.
After doing all the above i switched the machine on and to my surprise the machine works.
I did put the machine into Test mode and all the reels, payouts, lights etc all work fine.
I played the machine for half hour or so and everything seems fine again.
Fingers crossed im hoping not to get the error again.
Since reading your replies ive checked the lights on the mpu and there all lit 4 power lights and a slowly flashing status light.
Again Many Thanks for your help, your info could be useful if theres any more problems.
Cheers..
