is there any lights on the MPU. 1 RED LED on MPU-4's and 4-5 LEDs on MPU-5's double check the 12v and 24v fuses and their carriers it's not uncommon to have a duff fuse carrier on the LDV supplies. also ensure the carrier seats firmly and securely in its holder.

ensure the power connector from PSU is firmly connected to MPU
a small buzzing sound is quite normal for these supplies when they are under load. if it is very load though, you may well have a short-circuit within the supply and a replacement will be needed. you could go to a local amusement machine supplier and they may sell you one from a scrapped machine or direct you to someware you can lay your hands on one. hope this helps.

While I can't recommend it to everyone, I replaced my Green Label LVD PSU with a much newer slimline PSU from a New Genesis cab, as the pinouts were the same.

Seems fine, not given any problems since. As I said though, I'll leave it to you to check the pinouts of your PSU with any replacement you may find, best of luck :)

Hi there the Green Label Barcrest PSU mean basically that payout voltage has been dropped from what used to be 50Volts for the payout solenoid to now a 24 volt Hopper unit and so the green label power supply can be swapped over to the new style switch mode unit with no problems as Barcrest have kept the same pinouts on both types. Yellow label power supplies are putting out 50 Volts AC for the payout coils, thats the difference

Hope that helps you out !!! Bridge Rectifiers in the Solid state PSU's like your green label one and in Yellow label types as well tend to go short circuit and the capacitors going bang is about all there is to go wrong with those types.

Switch mode is a bit trickier as you have generally one fuse thats the mains input fuse and thats it !!!! Nothing really servicable inside unless your good or know someone who can fix it !!! A good TV shop should be able to sort it out though !!

You've got my sympathy. I've caused minor f**kups which I've always been able to sort out (although they've caused a bit of stress sometimes while I retrace my steps) but I've never blown a mainboard before.

Ouch.

I'd stick with MPU5, very easy to work with (normally!) and loads of spares about - plus the spares you already have!
