I'd bet everything I have on this not being the case - otherwise you could never control certain of the percentages, and there are combinations that come up repetitively (whereas other combinations for example 00000,00040,00000 that will never come up, seriously when you have played them as much as me that should be come obvious).. I have followed the engineers comments in the threads and they seem to agree with the random profile theory.

What does anybody else think?

This thread is well worth a read from start to finish James if you want to understand how these games work. There is a variation between manufacturers. Astra do one thing; BFG and Barcrest do another.

You can be sure that The Mission knows what he's talking about, as I believe he writes software for these sort of games, and understands the different ways that the stats can be approached. Also, you can be sure the way I have described how Astra's stuff work is true. :)
Watch out! There's a SIG thief about...

Hi Stevedude I 100% agree with what you have said,

and Mission I know there are some Section 16s that are 100% rnd per reel, however the ones I am referring to I am sure aren't as they seem profile based. Not sure which ones you have worked on Mission can you give us an idea? You can tell the online section 16 type machines run by various gaming sites work on a random percentage per reel. So I think that depends on the machine.

As far as I can tell from playing them Rainbow Riches, Cashino and Elvis are Profile based while Party Slotto, Little Devils and Megaslot are 100% random per symbol. Anybody else agree with this? So I think that Stevedude had it right when he said it's by manufacturer, again Random Spinner seems profile based. Have you worked on any of these machines Mission? Can you give us any further insight? Anybody else know, abybody who has worked for these manufacturers on here?

I will be extremely interested to find out :) If this isn't the case (which would surprise me) then I would love to know how the reels are chosen due to the fact that certain combinations never-ever happen (I must have seen 100,000 through some machines without seeing certain combinations but have seen the jackpot several times.

Cheers
James

Hi Gavt

Unfortunately real life keeps getting in the way of me making much progress on this at the moment but I've made a few changes to it in the last few days & its edging closer to completion but I dont really want to let it loose until I'm happy with it myself.

I'm guessing it will be ready in about a week. I've got some good info to include to make it play better & I'm waiting for more stuff to arrive so I can hopefully improve the graphics too. As soon as some significant progress is made I'll post here to let you know.

£1500 from this. that would be 3x 500 jackpots or a shit load of after play.
and from 50 spins if it was on £2 play.
i do find that hard to believe. not impossible but hard to believe

Very hard to believe.

Ok just wanted to thank everyone who has help me with this project so far.

As for progress, I've managed to add sound and also squashed a small bug where the wild symbols were not paying right.

Appearance wise nothing has changed so there is little point in putting up another screen shot yet.

However I am expecting more material soon which I hope will make the game look much nicer.

As I mentioned before, it already plays quite well but these things never play quite the same as the real game so I am experimenting with different playing profiles to see which seems most accurate. I suspect the real game adapts its profile depending on whether it wants to pay out of not by for example making 7's more likely to be picked or throwing out more cherries - I'll experiment with the same thing & see if that plays any better.

Already thinking about what to do afterwards & got a couple of games in mind but will let you know when this one is closer to completion.

Use bitmasks to evalaute the fruits, this way you can easily make a wild bitmask plus it's the quickest way to evaluate all combinations on all 20 win lines.
