Hi,

On my MPU5 machine when I go through the options and test the datapak it comes up with fail, what is the datapak and would one be installed on my machine? Its an Austin Powers one.

Cheers.

I believe the datapak to be an add-on device that logs everything, I dont just mean the money in and out, like the counter that you can hear clicking, but what actual coins have been inserted, what the % was for the last session, what features have been taken, how much was won from each feature..... the list goes on. The device would have a removable sort of media such as a PCMCIA memory card, you would then need special software to download the data and analyse it.

I am 99% sure you DO NOT have one. I have seen inside 1000's of machines over the years, my own machines, other poeples, arcades meachines and service stations etc.... not one has ever had a datapak fitted. The reason is they are pretty much worthless, the only thing a fruit machine owner should be interested in is profit, and you only need to remove the cash box door to see how thats going, not some datapak that requires effort.

you wont have or ever need one as its only breweries and large bookies that ever request then.

datapak is the end result of a device that the industry said couldnt be made for a muti-vendor environment.

the datapak and key is merely a system for third party operators to access the figures of in and out coins. Corals/Ladbrokes and pub operators are classic examples of people who dont even trust their own managers. The manager access`s his figures and send these daily to the head office, Epos for corals, and dion i believe for ladbrokes.

Ontop of all this, the likes of leisurelink will send a bimbo round to plug in or access wirelessly to the datapak and retrieve a seperate set of in and out figures which are process and viewed along side the managers compiled figures.

if they dont balance the power that be investigate a possible fraud. oh, if the bimbo forgets to plug in the datapak plug key, the machnie will not reset, with a comm link error.
