Hello chaps,
Just wondering if any of you clever blokes can emulate any of the old ACE machines, Twilight Zone, Play It Again, Open The Box...Etc..I used to love these machines in the early 90's and many a weeks hard earned cash was gobbled up by the blighters ( I aint gonna lie and say i won cos they were actually very ,very mean machines!!) but i did enjoy spending the whole day chasing the £30 token streak followed by the £20 cash streak....it was a time when the hidden features were new and exciting and you actually believed you were cheating the machines by knowing how to win when it pronounced "WATCH FOR MY HIDDEN TREASURES!" well , i was only 15.....and a half
Anyway lads any information on these machines would be of interest as i cant even find one of the buggers to buy!!!

Currently there is no emulator for those type of machines. It all has to do with the technology of the machine.
All I can say is hope and pray that someday it will come along. I am pretty positive it will happen but when I do not know.

I am praying too coz I loved those machines. Spent many an hour nudging the actual lines in & not a winning symbol mixture to get the Jackpot or Unlimited Nudges hidden feature. Used to have a crib sheet folded up in my pocket to remind me what line represented what - Line 1 = Unlimited Nudges, Line 2 = Jackpot etc!
I think it was because they were different, or broke the mould at the time, I enjoyed them & they are remembered so much by fellow fruiters!

I'm quite surprised you actually lost on these. I believe these machines led to the difficulties of ACE back in the 90's.
The 'Band Aid' features did differ slightly between the machines but zone 7 was always 7 free plays.
Heres a pic of Pay Rise. Hope it rekindles the memories.

Indeed lol..7 years ago when emulating these machines was just a pipe-dream.
Just goes to show how far the emulators have come since then..maybe another 7 years till we get an emulator capable of running DOND..although hopefully never.

Another thing, you made that thread 'Posted 14 November 2003' - I made the layout '2nd May 2008' - you even went in to my future and stole the layout
lol
I'm just wondering if we can use the same method to get us Deal or No Deal lol

Sadly, the designer of most of these games committed suicide in 1998. I worked with him for two years and watched him as his world fell apart

How sad to hear that.

Unfortunately, we just love to see the games that we play, and totally take for granted the work that goes behind in creating them for the manufacturers and all the hard work and stress this must cause because of the constant, changing gambling environment of the times in question. I must say though he was streets ahead with his implementation of the brilliant and legendary Sp.Ace games that came out in the 1990s. They, to me, are some of the best created gambling machines ever to have been invented, and Twilight Zone is a legend in itself... it is such a shame that the creator of this brilliant fruit machine had such a troubled mind... his brilliance is a tragic loss to the industry, even after all these years... especially with some of the designs that come out now (DOND anybody?).
He has certainly left behind a lasting legacy with Ace machines from that period though - and the emulators that we have will preserve his work for the future too, so his wonderful creations can always be played.
May he rest in peace.
