yes you're safe plugging a different card in,I used to use my mpu3 and mpu4 machines like a snes or megadrive, changing cards, adding reelbands and altering lamp positions to match, things are so much easier since fruit machine emulation started! unfortunately for you I gave everything I had(program cards, reelbands, wiring diagrams)to the emu game developers.

from barcrest service manual.

"In the case when the memory requires to be cleared, for example of unwanted credit the following procedure should be followed.

1. switch machine on with doors closed

2. open a door

3. switch off machine

4. close door

5. switch machine on.

some parts of memory cannot normally be cleared, for example long term metering. these can only be reset by running a memory clear program module".

if you have a different program module you could try plugging that in to see if it has any effect, this does work on barcrest video machines(mpu4)
'cos I just tried it!

re: cash'ncarry
I remember the style of the machine, but not that particular game,do you have anymore barcrest pics of this style? I'm pretty sure that these cabinets use mpu2 processor.

if it was coral island, yes it is a 9 seater, I was there a couple of days ago,I played oxo club super reels and got on to the top reels 6 times after a £25 jackpot came off with £140 and the hopper still looked half full,I suspect that these have £250 floats.
