mpu4 mod2 help

06 May 2006 - 11:43 AM

Thanks to all for the help so far.

The Pontoon Club is about 90% salvaged now and i am on the final bend before she is done.

I have 10 lamps that i can't get to light up. They are not connected to the main lamps but to the triac (white) connector on the mpu4 board and i cant figure out what is - and + voltages and what they should be.

I dont know if the psu is crapping out or if its the board.

The board has had a bit of battery leakage but i think i have got it sorted. a pair of aa nicad batterys are in an external holder away from the mainboard now and she keeps the bank totals etc.
i had to replace 3 1r resistors that were corroded and everything seems ok apart from these 10 lapms.

I will try and put a diagram on of the pins i need measured on a known working mpu4 mod 2 board.
Posted Image

2 points are in red, 1 on the main psu connector and 1 on the triac connector(they are linked on the pcb by a track).
2 points in blue are on the triac connector

The 3 connections on the triac connector feed 2 lines of 5 lamps (which are brand new) but just refuse to light up.

On measuring i get about 0.2v + on the red connector on either triac pin or psu pin. and on blue pins 0v neither + or -

I would think the psu is crapping as half of the lamps that do light are flickering nice while the other half are ok with no flicker.

Club Pontoon Problems

28 April 2006 - 05:56 PM

I have a couple of small problems with a Club Pontoon that i have just rescued from a smelly garage.

1) coin mec.

the tubes and actuators are as follows Left (large yellow) Center (Large yellow) Right (small blue)
Inserting 10p the mec gives the correct credit for the machine payout and the sorter drops the 10p into the small blue tube.
Inserting 20p the mec gives the correct credit for the machine payout and drops the 20p into the first large yellow tube ( but the tube and actuator are too big and the 20 drops straight into the payout tray past the actuator. you get a credit and your coin back)
Inserting 50p i dont know as i aint got any OLD 50p's but i think they will be sorted into the midde large yellow tube.
Inserting £1.00 gives the correct credit and the sorter drops the £1.00 straight into the bottom collection tray.

I would say the coin mec is working as it should and sorter is working as it should so why would the first tube be a large yellow tube and actuator because there is no way it was made for 20p's its just too big. Will i need to change the 1st tube to a smaller one for the 20p's ????

2) Coin mec Wiring. I have a loose black wire coming from the sorter plug. I dont know where it is supposed to go but it has a cripmed connector on the end and looks as if its from some sort of multiplug.. Any ideas as to what it is, what it does and where it is supposed to go ???

3)Coin Mec. Is it possible to change the mec to take new 50p's ?? i have read here and there it might be possible to reflash the eeprom chip ? the coin mec is an MK 2 unit but i have never taken one off and apart so i dont know if its possible. Any advise would be great, New hex dump with new 50p included etc etc.. i can reflash most kinds of eeprom if it has one and is possible to do.

Thanks in advance
Chris

Club Pontoon Problems

28 April 2006 - 05:20 PM

I have just salvaged a Club Pontoon nudger from a garage.

It powers and seems to play fine with a small ammount of work i have done to it this far. I have a couple of questions requiring the need of a more techno brain than mine.

1) Coin mec. It has been updated at some point for the new 10p and gives the correct credit for what ever jackpot is set. the question is which tube is the sorter supposed to drop the coin into. From left to right are 2 x yellow tubes with yellow actuator assys and one Blue tube with Blue actuator. the 10p is always dropped into the blue tube (right tube)

2) Coin mec. 20p inserted always gives the correct ammount of spins and the sorter drops the 20p into the first yellow tube but this tube is well to big and the coin drops right past the actuator down into the payout tray (so u get a credit and your coin back)

3) Coin mec. 50p (OLD 50p ONLY) i would say would would be sorted into the middle yellow tube but as i aint got any OLD 50p's i cant test this

4) Coin mec. £1.00 the mec gives the correct play ammount and the sorter drops the £ into the bottom most collection tray so will never pay out in £'s

Are these coinage options correct ?? as it seems to me that for £100 jackpot it would pay out in 50p's 20p's and 10p's.. thats an awfull lot of loose change.

Also on the MK2 coin mec is a black wire comming from the sorter plug that aint attached to anything. it looks like it should be in a multiplug somewhere as its got a crimped connector on the end. Any ideas as to what it is and where it goes ??

I aint taken the mec and sorter off yet as i aint got a clue how to do it and how to clean it because it seems to be working and i live by the rule of if its working leave it

If the sorter is woking right and dropping the 20p into the first large yellow tube do i need to change the first yellow tube and actuator to the right size for a 20p or can i make the hole at the bottom of the actuator smaller ? the tube will still be too big for a 20p and will more than likely jam up.

Can the coin mec be reprogrammed to accept new 50p's as i dont wanna have to buy a new (or second hand one) when the eeprom or whatever could be re flashed. (i can reprogram eeproms of most kinds) if someone has the correct hex code dump from a working uint

Has anyone got any diags of how to remove the coin men and sorter to clean them and poss reflash the eeprom ?

Sorry for the long post and first post, but its been about 15 years since i had my last nudger but that worked and didnt need me to open up and repair anything..
