help with wifi/broadband connection

i have bt internet normaly i use wifi on my laptop which works ok except over the last couple of days its got really slow and has trouble connecting to pages so i have switched to using the ethernet cable into my router and its picked up a bit

anyone know why its slow

also my upload speed is only 0.37 megabytes is this correct on an 8mb connection im getting 7 for downloading
