Hello,

My machine is a Barcrest Jailbirds MPU5 in a Horizon cabinet built in 2008.

I have a question on how to reset the hopper level to about £35 or so, I set it before so that when there was about £30- £40 the hopper would be full and then all the next £1 coins would go into the cash boxes.

I can't remember how I reset it and I've followed the instructions on the manual to totally dump all of the hopper, then with the refill key turned I filled it with £35 of coins,then turned the refill key back , but no luck as the coins still go into the hopper until there is £100 pounds worth in the hopper !! 

The machine previously worked until the grandchildren had two jackpot wins of £35 within a few plays and emptied the machine and set off the alarm, I've never had a jackpot win myself !!  The machine still works O.K. and pays out etc as needed.

Any help would be appreciated , thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm still a novice with this machine and I'm learning slowly each day.

I have a Barcrest Jailbirds with  2006 Horizon cabinet MPU5 , the coin mechanism is Money Controls SR5 mars 9524e and the hoppers are MkII serial £1.

What I would like to do is use the old shilling or similar to use my machine without having to put £1 coins in , the reason is that my many grandchildren use this machine and keep taking the 'winnings' and I keep running out of old £1 coins , my machine doesn't take the new pound coin.!!!

Could the coin control unit be reprogrammed to use another coin , my friend's fruit machine accepts the old shilling , but his machine is a very old model .

Any help or suggestions ? My knowledge is very limited with these new machines , but I'm very willing to learn.

I've just bought a Barcrest Jailbirds fruit machine and at the moment still impatiently awaiting delivery !

Many moons ago I had a couple of machines for my sons to use and me of course ,but that was over 25 years ago, I am at a loss how to set up even the simple things such as ;

Volume control, when I check the MPU5 manual it states use button A , therefore I'm immediately in trouble as I can't find button A !!

I would like to set it up for free play to begin with, but again I can't find any mention in the generic MPU5 manual , it will be played with my eight grandchildren and adults.

I've looked at a number of videos to help with initial set up ,and I've been recommended to this site for useful help and other manuals to buy.
