there definitely is a new update for it out, as hurtland says... grab it from the official site, should be no problems

the only way around it is to disable windows messenger totally....
control panel --> administrative tools --> services, scroll down to messenger and right click --> stop, right click again --> properties --> general tab --> startup type --> disabled.
the other thing you can do is boot into safe mode, navigate to windows messenger in your root drive/program files and rename the main folder 'messengerOFF'
that should nuke it for you
